    Vegi's, Sod off please.

As society changes, more and more people are left with too much free time on their hands, lacking perhaps, intelect or imagination to do more creative things. Instead they decide to go and force change for no real reason, leaving us choco-luddites fealing enraged.

Want meat in your choc bar? Twix fits! | Metro.co.uk

Chocolate giant Mars faces a second backlash after it was found that three of its most popular products still contain an ingredient from calves' stomachs.
And, why not? I'm sure there is a reason why they are using rennet, most likely its going to be cost or flavour. Now as the majority of people are true to the omnivor digestive system we have, why should Mars give a whoot about a bunch of hippies.

'I'm sure there are vegetarians out there eating these products unaware they are unsuitable for vegetarians,' a spokeswoman for the Vegetarian Society said.
BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO STUPID TO READ THE LABEL.

Its not as if they are saying that these are suiteable for vegiterians (thou i still think such markings should be present on the client facing end of a smith & wesson).

Its simple, you don't like them, don't eat them. If the majority agree with you, then they will change things. If not then someone will fill that neech market.

Why should we have the flavour changed, or the price increased (as if mars would themselfs take the hit) just so some people, who force this decission on themselfs can eat them.

If they where complaining about penut allergies, then mabye i'd have more sympathy for the evolutionary rejects who's fault is not their own making.

People with peanut allergies don't go and chow down on a Snickers... They know its got nuts in, so, duh, eat the mars bar!

So if a veggie knows that mars bars have rennet in, duh, EAT SOMETHING ELSE!

    Re: Vegi's, Sod off please.

Why aren't you out there hunting your meat and living from a cave? Oh, we evolved not to.. so there's no need to eat meat any more. Less of the evolutionary rejects stuff please. Infact if people ate less meat (not necessarily cut it out altogether) then the world would be in a far better situation.

No one is stopping you from eating mars bars so why the fuss? Just because a society that represents vegetarians has asked Mars to change something on behalf of the people they represent it's not the end of the world and no-one is forcing you to become vegetarian.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect non-meat based products to be suitable for vegetarians - all the cadburys chocolate I currenty have in my draw is.

But we do need meat, tablet substitutes are not the same for the protiens and vitamins you get from red meat etc.

Not only that but our teeth (incisors etc) are meant for chewing and ripping meat apart.

Now you might say we have evolved to think better than eating animals, fair point but no one is stopping me eating my steak! They taste too good (and I hate veg).

As for the Mars Bars, as long as they still taste the same and are the same price I have no problem. If it changes the taste then I do, no different from foods where salt has been taken out for 'health' reasons and the taste has been wrecked.

Get where i'm going with this?

Its not resonable to expect a company to do anything but cater to the demand of its target audiance.

Most sain veggies, of which i know only 1, won't care about rennet. This is because there is a hudge surpless of it. Cutsie wootsie ickle animwals are not been slaughter for the rennet, its a approching worthless by product.

What about the substitutes, which will not only taste different, perform differently, but also obviously have some cost attached. Why should i pay for that?

If someone wants to be a vegetarian, fine that's up to them. But don't go trying to enforce you view upon others, just eat stuff that doesn't contain meat and be happy that you're not killing any cute bunny rabbits.

I don't profess to have amazing knowledge about it, what I do know is that at uni I had a vegi friend and she took substitutes and was always quite tired and pale. She now eats meat and looks and feels far better for it.

As for the spelling, oops, was typing in a hurry!
