So LLoydsTSB stopped a 'large' payment on my debit card.

    Without telling me.

    Thanks.

So, spending 8% of your monthly account churn, on your debit card is fraudlike.

So now next week i'm going to go on my lunch break and yell at some branch manager until i feal better.

I'm compelled by law to inform them if i suspect my card is been used in a fraudulent fassion, else i'm liable .

Shouldn't they have the same respsect for me?

    All retail banks are ****s.

It was like that Capital One advert, they saw you buy frilly underwear, ballet lessons and spice girls tickets - then they noticed a bottle of Newcastle Brown on the card and knew it was stolen

Re: So LLoydsTSB stopped a 'large' payment on my debit card.

I used LTSB online to transfer a large sum (4 figures) from my account to my wife's account.

LTSB locked me out of online banking and locked down both of my LTSB cards. I only found out a few days later when I went online to check if the transaction had gone through.

When I rang up to ask why I was told, "It was an odd payment, it looked fraudulent, so we stopped it."

Odd payment - it was to my wife, with the same surname as me...odd?
It was made online, using the 9 digit customer number (how many permutations are there for 9 digits?), a password and a few characters from a secret passphrase.
Why did they stop my cards?

Flipside is, had something cack gone on, I'd have wanted them to do the same thing, so, I can't really complain.

Barclays have been good with me & the rents, don't think they've ever stopped anything unnecessarily. Even when I bought an Xbox on an account I usually only put food & fuel through they were fine.

    Time to switch banks matey

Re: So LLoydsTSB stopped a 'large' payment on my debit card.

I tried to put a large payment on my debit card (also good old Lloyds TSB) they froze my account on the spot, so I wrote a cheque for the amount. I when to the nearest branch and spent about 25 minutes getting my account unfrozen I also told them I had written a cheque, told them the amount, the name and the cheque number so they would not hold it up. 'Yes we put the details on your account'. They so told me there is a 10k transaction limit I guess that wasn't your issue TheAnimus

So the next day (the cheque was been express cleared at my expensive due to the debit card failure) I get a call from the Bank can I confirm they should pay the money on a cheque, I ask could they see any notes on my account about the cheque 'Yes, but can you confirm you have written the cheque and the details on the cheque..'

Stopping the debit card transaction was fair enough but getting me to verify the cheque when I had done so in person really annoyed me.

It not the first time they have messed be about, I hate my bank I just cannot be bothered changing ...

Only ever experienced this with my parents' Barclaycards and it's a royal PITA because they don't feel it necessary to tell you either

I'm with First Direct, have been for about 9 years and can't fault them. On the odd occasion I have to phone them I get through to a call centre in the UK which I find important when I'm dealing with my finances.

By the sounds of it, they've got your account flagged as "at risk" now. If I were you I'd close it and move on to a new bank. Pick one that's offering you the best deal
