    5 a day - Who's managed it today?

Just wondering how many people actually manage their 5 fruit/veg based eats a day.

    Today I've had:

Fruit yoghurt drink thing (Muller One - contains a portion of fruit apparently)
    Glass of OJ
    2 celery sticks
    2 baby corn
    2 clementines
a tomato (in a pate and tomato samich)
a chunk of cucumber (cheese, salad cream and cucumber samich)
    An apple

I've got another clementine and a bunch of grapes for the way home but thay might get trumped by a choccy.

Wow, i'm actually doing quite well today. (apart from the Twix i'm about to eat with a cuppa)

Anyone else feeling the healthy vibe?

*Note: I can spell sandwich, just the word Samich goes better with my cute persona.

Yeah a little, but that's probably as I've not had a ciggy in 24 hours and I've been drinking loads of weird and wonderful stuff like cranberry juice and innocent smoothies

A portion is a handful MadD... I don't think there was a portion of each in your pasty!

That would be one mega pasty!

    Re: 5 a day - Who's managed it today?

3 pieces of toast (oat bread), bowl of rice, peas and chicken & a packet of Walkers' Lites. Not sure what I'll be having for my evening munchies

Honestly, I hate fresh fruit. I love vegetables but fruit leaves me cold and I have a weird pet theory about this which probably won't stand close scrutiny at all. My mother when she was pregnant with me could eat very little and survived on fruit - I hate the stuff. Her mother craved milk when she was pregnant with her and drank loads of it & my mother hates milk. Another friend, her mother craved and ate loads of rhubarb during the pregnancy and she hates it. Probably coincidence and a total digression but there you have it.

It does make the 5 a day a bit challenging though.. I can't drink smoothies, they all just taste of banana to me (and I hate bananas!)

I believe the answer to that is yes, since it comes from grain which grows in the ground and is therefore veg. As is wine, coming from grapes. Also chicken burgers are veg, cos chickens eat corn etc, and there's probably green stuff in there as well.

Honestly, pretty much... I don't mind dried fruits so much but I'm not fond of the fresh juicy stuff... I'll occasionally have an apple but I don't really enjoy them (I try to be healthy occasionally.) Sometimes I'll have raspberries with cream (but they have to have a lot of sugar) and I loathe strawberries. It's a weird thing, I know...

    Re: 5 a day - Who's managed it today?

I'm feeling healthy because I went for jog this morning....first time in over 10 years

After coughing up a lung I had myself a great roast beef sandwich with some lettuce and a small tomato, so I guess that's one. I may well have some veg for dinner tonight, taking me up to around three, but there's no way I'm getting to five.

Very unhealthy overall though, what with the full Sunday lunch yesterday, and the French dinner we went onto which comprised of nothing more than slabs of meat and melted cheese (oh, and a few potatoes). I worked out how much I'd eaten afterwards (not including the homemade icecream dessert) and I reckon I put away around 8000 calories....Do you think the small salad I had on the side helped to balance it out?
