Teen's blood type switch stuns experts

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and it's, well...

Teen's blood type switch stuns experts | The Courier-Mail
    Kate Sikora
    January 25, 2008 11:00pm

TEENAGER Demi-Lee Brennan has been dubbed the "one-in-six-billion miracle girl" after her body switched blood types to take on the immune system of her organ donor. Her ability to accept a new liver and then miraculously produce new blood cells has left doctors mystified.

The rare phenomenon now means Demi-Lee, 15, will not have to take a cocktail of anti-rejection drugs for the rest of her life. It also gives hope to the 1800 gravely ill Australians awaiting a transplant.

There is also another link (that I can't find atm), discussing that it may be an error by the hospital.

So this miracle is limited to lucky* Australians? Bugger.

    Not convinced at all.

I just think it is a fault with the first testing. When the Rh+ve test fluid is applied to a drop of blood, if it shows clumping its positive, if it does not clump together its negative. Sometimes the clumping is very fine and looks almost unclumped.

Definitely a mistake Theres probably a PR department somewhere, desperately thinking of ways to own up and minimise the fuss.

Another video rehashing the same thing as has been said before gives it more credence than the first time around ?

Reuters just pick up the news/videos/clips from other places, and sell them on. Its not like they are a completely independent news organisation which went out there and verified all this first hand.

Yes they do. And as of 24 hours ago the only source on google was the one article I posted originally from which all the other sources stemmed. There has been no mention of any TV/video interview footage, so in the context of this thread the Reuters news piece adds weight (which is why I posted it).

If you had seen any footage earlier then you should have mentioned it in the bit where you put:

Both you and me don't know what Reuters have done to verify the story. But I do take your point and I'll be keeping an interested eye open on the story one way or the other.
