    RBS Six Nations

Okay - so I have done it for all other major tournaments in Rugby time to do it for this one Just a quick note - I'm a huge Gloucester fan and undoubtbly biased - but I will do my best to not be. \

    England v Wales, 16:30

Quick run down - this should be interesting, we have an England side with some risks - in the front row we have a 'safe' lineup which could be classed as showing little risk - and with some strong guys in the 2nd row - and beyond... Should be a fairly solid pack.

Behind this - we have some interesting decisions - with Gommars playing (yes he was great in the World Cup...) who has forgotten how to play properly - and Jonny as Fly - will be interesting when Danny Cipriani comes on though and the the impact he may make on the pitch. I'm pleased to see Tait dropped after his diabolical performance last weekend for Newcastle. With Balshaw playing at fullback I've some concerns but hopefully we will be able to do something special, and with the Volcano likely to come on - he should stomp some Welsh boys.

On to Wales - talk about desperation - they have literally picked the entire Ospreys team - yep they are playing well but c'mon guys...! Also the winning vibes which Shaun Edwards puts in everyside no doubt should help lift them at Twickers.

My prediction - it will be close IF England play bad - if not should be explosive. I'm concerned about the amount of 'bonding' time the team has had.

    Ireland v Italy, 14:00
Simple - Even though some of the Italian internationals have had some fantastic progress made in the Premiership and other Europeant team with some of their players - they still are not strong enough to actually challenge someone as strong as France or England. However it is guaranteed to be a physical match. Ireland have been far from onform. We have seen some good HC play from Munster and such this momentum should help Ireland easily turn over Italy at Croke Park.

    Ireland win.

    Scotland v France, 15:00

I'd love Scotland to have a good 6 nations - but I know it won't happen, they did well in the World Cup but I am certain France will be on a point proving tournament this year - esp after last years world Cup 'disaster' as they probably view it...

    France to win.

I suspect the end of 6 nations will have a table something like this

    England
    France
    Wales
    Ireland
    Scotland
    Italy....

.... I'm sure that an Ospreys side can beat the Irish...

    Noooo we need him!

Anyway as for the weekend, I think England will win the game but it will be tight, I don't think that the team has had enough time to properly bond as DR says.

However I do think that over the whole tournament we should be very strong, I am hoping (maybe foolishly) that our success in the world cup will give the confidence for the team to feel it can win this and I firmly believe it is possible.

Not 100% sure dropping Tait was the best bet, yes his performance for the Falcons was dire but he has been very impressive until that point, Balshaw is a good player but he does have too many off days. I really think that the no15 shirt needs to be given to someone for a long period. Not since Jason Robinson at the 2003 world cup have we had consistancy and it really hurts the team.

    Predictions:

    1st England
    2nd Ireland
    3rd France
    4th Scotland
    5th Italy
    6th Wales

I really think Italy can do it this time and I think that Wales are just too weak. Scotland are a good team and can get higher but play too erratically. I feel Ireland will be very strong to make up for the world cup. France have a new coach and I have never felt that they perform consistantly enough.

    Mystic Meg over.

    Re: RBS Six Nations

The issue is - 'rent a squad' aka Wales and bringing Ospreys squad is going to help them win certain games because of the fact the team knows one and other...
... Just wish we were playing Ospreys during this or in the HC next time..

Come the day and come the hour
Come the power and the glory
    We have come to answer
    Our Country's call
From the four proud provinces of Ireland

    Ireland, Ireland,
    Together standing tall
    Shoulder to shoulder
    We'll answer Ireland's call

    Come on Ireland...

    Re: RBS Six Nations

Well we played like a bunch of morons in the 2nd half - and Wales came out with the belief that they could win - and did. Good game for them - well time to drink as an England fan.

Balshaw and Gommars I feel were the weak points in the team and neither should be playing next week - and I am concerned at how many injuries happened...(!)

Anyhow - that screws up my table views - I will re-do them for the next games.

I'm shocked also at how well Italy played - I wish they had turned over Ireland - and it looks plausable at one point!

That was a bloody horrible second half! The first wasn't the best, but the second was just a nightmare.

    Re: RBS Six Nations

I'm giving up on watching internationals. My blood pressure just can't cope.

My feeling is England lost the match rather than Wales won it (if that makes sense.)

Honestly, given what I saw on the pitch in terms of technique and spirit then both England and Wales fans have plenty to be concerned about with their teams, I think.

OMG... we had the worst afternoon.

Got in with the match sky +ed - I accidentally ff'ed to the end of the programme and we were winning... then we realised that the match hadn't finished yet, and that we actually had lost

Only one thing for it, those blasted non-emptyable wine glasses!!!
