Question about how to get my tax back

I worked at GAME over christmas and earnt a fair amount from it, however, the government still has it's hands on 300 quid of my income tax. I'm a student and i definitely didn't earn over the minimum threshold (in any case my friends who worked there got all theirs back). What's my best course of action? I handed them in a P46 to send off, and i trust that they have, and i've got my P45 back. I was looking at the P50 forms, but i don't know whether that applies..

Any thoughts on what i should do?

If you go to your local tax office they can check the status of your claim (if youve made one) and let you know the exact date you will receive your check. Its happened to me in the past

What process did you do to file the claim?

Have you paid too much tax through PAYE? : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits <= i'm basing it on that

I had the same thing happen too mate (With GAME too! ). Just pop to your tax office and speak to someone. I never even had to fill a form out. Had it back in a couple of weeks IIRC

This'd be just the basic Inland Revenue office then?

I need to do it too, working for Comet I didn't have a P45 so was put on an emergency tax code, got about &#163;6-700 so far, will be nice for a little pc upgrade or something
