Who Do You Know in Government?

Before I looked because it griped me, I only knew Gordon Brown as PM and Alistair Darling as Chancellor. Thats it. Oh and David Cameron as Conservative Leader.

When I did look up the rest of the mob on their site, the names rang bells. I think thats bad. Now is it me because I don't read the news often enough, or is it because our government keeps changing, or is it because they just don't like being in the limelight?

I think it's like everything else really. If you pay attention to it you would keep up and know who's who. If not then you will only know the very high up public figures.
Doesn't seem to be changing too much now but I guess there have been recent changed with Brown as PM.

Like knowing who's on the current England football team.. I havn't got bloomin clue

Personally I've given up for the time being, putting my effort into planning my escape from this hole

As long as you know the name of your local MP then that's the most important thing!

Re: Who Do You Know in Government?

Because all of our democratic power is levered directly through your local MP. *They* are the ones who then choose the PM/party leader, who then chooses their cabernet. They should be excercising the opinion of their consituents in their parliment voting.

I've got a lot of respect for my MP (Evan Harris), shame the Lib Dems probably won't ever manage to take power.

You'd be surprised how much individuals can still influence things if they get their bill chosen for debate etc. You don't need to be part of the party in power to make a difference.

Unfortunately I dislike my local MP and have been very unimpressed by him saying one thing to me and then acting differently. Then again, I didn't vote for him either (but he doesn't know that).
