    Play.com situation update

    As you may have read in a thread buried deep within the hexus dungeons there was a time when play sold me a copy of a game called planetside which had already been used.

    So i contacted them, got my new copy a week later (chuffed) only to find out it had also been used already. This obviously started to annoy me as i had been waiting 3 weeks already to play this game (if you don't know already it's an MMORPG which means online only and you NEED the CD key)

    So i contacted sony, gave them the CD keys that i had tried to sign up with and here's the reply i got

    You are going to hate me, I am showing that account key has also been
    registered to a third party, in fact it was registered in last June. I
    am sorry but you are going to need to take this copy back as well, they
    sold you another used game.
    Another used game! Blimey! Do you use play? Are you being sold second hand copies of whatever you are purchasing? I sure have, twice with the same game!

    Another update will come about tommorow as i phone them up to let them know what is going on.

    that sounds like someone in their supply chain is swiping the codes from the games in the warehouse..

    I doubt you'd be that unlucky if it was just down to keygens..

    Off topic from Play but... I had this problem with Blockbusters as well. Brought a copy of Super Monkey Ball from them, which had obviously been used before, and The Matrix Reloaded on DVD, which again, had been used.

    Cheeky gits.

    All my Play DVDs seem new.

    Just use a keygen and steal someone elses! You've obviously paid for it, so I can't see the harm (though this will probably be removed ).

    Well the guy phoned me back and said that there's a problem with the warehouse or something and he stated that there must be a faulty batch and then i told him that it wasn't because the key had been registered since last june so it's obviously second hand or the key was stolen. They're going to get back to me by 5:30 this evening. We shall see.

    Well they didn't call me back, it may not be their fault though so we shall find out once i get in contact with them once again. It depends on where play get their copies

    Somebody out there has my Half-Life key. I have two copies of half life and one of the keys sometimes gets blocked out. Luckily it seems rather rare, so I'm not that bothered - that copy of half life has been on a variety of machines so somebody could have gotten it from somewhere I guess.

    Still, bad luck mate, I hope you get it sorted soon.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Ok so the guy didn't get back to me on the situation so i decided to phone up again and spoke to a lady this time. She was being all nice and told me she'd get the problem sorted straight away and that she would call me back. The only problem is, she didn't call me back either! I'm not beginning to think play can't be bothered with customer service, everyday they don't do anything more it shows how much of a bad company they are to me.

    I'll be phoning them back up again to tell them that they haven't got back to me in a week or so and making a formal complaint. The first time i ordered the game was 16th of January and it's now the 6th of February.

    I clearly put the point accross that either they are selling me second hand copies or that they have an employee stealing codes. Next time i won't be so nice.

    Hmm I remember opening up Rise of the Machines in Game, there was a sticker nside with a code. Picked up another box, ohh look another sticker with a different code. No CD, no manual. Stupid.

    Manufactures should seal their manuals with the CD Key INSIDE the manual rather than on the back, this will stop stealing, and then if the wrapper is open, you know its been used.

    Could try a keygen if one exists or the game. Still sucks though.
