    Anyone know exeter well?

Need to know a good restraunt, that is one that has really good food.

My parents live in cornwall, accepting that there are very few actually good restraunts there (tv cheifs can sod off) my dad's passing through exeter, as he's going to be having a bout of chemo (which often effects peoples taste buds) i'd like to get him a top notch meal.

Now as this is all happening at short notice, need somewhere that would be able to seat two tommorow lunch.

Been a Londoner i've just been amazed at the lack of toptable etc for exeter, so if someone could recomend a good place, i'd be eternailly greatful. Better yet, as i'll be reading on this on my mobile, if they could post the name, postcode and phone number so i don't have to mess about it would be great.

Practically any type of food would be fine, price anything, thats not insaine.

I guess you have already looked on bloomberg?
Not that I would expect restaurants from Exeter to be on there... but it might be worth a try. Type in DINE.

    Re: Anyone know exeter well?

    i don't have BBG anywhere

also given that i'm on the 'compasionate leave' last thing i want to do is contact work, and get someone who's in tommorow to look it up for me.

(for the non geeks, that means i can only access it from work without breaking all sorts of rules)

Can you not RDP into a machine that has it running?
Or ask a friend at another bank?

I had an anywhere account for 3 months in 2006... but they deleted my record so I don't come up anymore when my name is searched
Oh well, I 'll probably get a new account when I start full time

Do not pass go, do not collect £200.

seriously thats a major violation, you need an anywhere license.

(but lets not start to ask why my account is a non biometric (ie work only, not anywhere one )

Micheal Caines in Exeter is very good. Part of the Abode Hotel and right on the green near the cathedral.
Restaurant was a bit over the top for me but the pub next door (also Micheal Caines) is very good by all accounts

Try the 'Nobody Inn' at Doddis Coombsley - it's a few miles outside Exeter, great food, has a phenomenal cheeseboard, and a large selection of malt whiskies!
The Nobody Inn [ Home ]

Another worthwhile place is the Double Locks,
    Double Locks
    good atmosphere, great location

and if they've got room for a cream tea afterwards, try the Southern Cross guesthouse in Newton Poppleford - it's the business!

    Hope these help, bon apetit!

    Re: Anyone know exeter well?

Green Alien mentioned some cool places, and I would totally agree with the Double Locks.

Depending on weather, they have a barbecue thing going on outside for certain meat-related meals, the atmosphere is great, and you can see all the way across the river to Topsham on the other side. As long as its a nice day that is.

In the city itself there are loads of good restaurants, mostly hidden down backstreets nearer the Cathedral, but if you're looking for a top-class-london-like establishment, I don't really think anything down in the south-west is like that, bar the tv-chef places.

Hope all goes well for your dad.
