Plastic vaccuum packs - nie on impossible without a chainsaw
Cardboard boxes - have all sorts of random tabs and flaps that you just have to rip off thus ruining the box for future use.
AND NOW...
even bananas are getting in on the act. I've had 3 this week that would refuse to open without squishing the top of the 'nana.
oh and satsumas....
they say it's for 'protection'.. i say BS!
and things like Action Figures and stuff where they're held onto the cardboard with those twisty metal things..
how is a 6 year old kid supposed to get into that in the car on the way home?! 'cause that's exactly what he/she wants!
there should be laws on how difficult things are to open tbh
and laws on how much packaging they're allowed to use, i mean.. COME ON! a banana has its own natural and perfect casing, it doesn't need some stupid plastic wrapped round it to protect it.

Jars are Fairly easy...
What gets me is the vacuum sealed plastic around things like memory cards and stuff like that. Half the time I try and rip them open and end up getting sliced by the sharp plastic sides. Not only this but they tend to use more plastic for the damn packaging than there is in the micro-SD card.
With all this tree hugging save the planet noise going on you'd think this would be stopped.

Yeah, blister packs are the ones that really annoy me.
Get a pair of the large tailors scissors from Ikea, they are about £3. Unbelievably sharp and great for cutting open the memory card/cable/electronics you've just received from Scan
As for cardboard boxes with tabs etc. Took me a good 5 min to get the AMD CPU out of its box last night. The hid the crafty little card tabs behind the plastic processor holder. Of course I could have just ripped it apart, but then they would have won! and you can't let box designers win, who knows what would happen then......
The packaging Xbox360 controllers come in are the worst ever....
When I first got mine I was embarrased how long it took me to get into it!! Was hacking away at the plastic with scissors, knifes and christ knows what.... tried ripping it after it was cut... cut myself in the process
Anyway, they're evil. I feel your pain!
Kitchen Devil scissors are also the dogs danglies.
We use them at work for cutting fibreglass and Kevlar matting. They blunt eventually, but they are the only things sharp, strong and durable enough for what we do.

I tednt ot find if the jar has a metal lid I give it a tap on the edge of the lid on the work top, makes it very easy to open then.
A whacking big pair of scissors usually does the job for clam-shell packaging. You're a bit screwed if you want to return it afterwards though.
I'm more bothered about the unneccessary waste it causes. What's wrong with cardboard? I can understand it for stuff that requires a complete seal, but why does stuff like headphones and memory cards have to come in impossible to open clam shell packaging?
I don't have a problem with it being plastic, but i would like it to be made of PETE as opposed to something random, then I can chuck it in the re-cycling along with juice bottles.
I usually keep a spare packing knife handy for stuff like that, a quick run of the blade around the edges will open up most vaccum sealed hard plastic containers (like memory cards etc).
