[rant] Search Results
Am i the only person who is getting MORE AND MORE P*SSED OFF with the way that when you try and find some information, or particularly somewhere you can buy something, that the only bloody results a search engine will pass back to you are links to sites listing other search engines which then link back to... ARRRGGGHHHH
lets open up google, type in "buy cobra replica kit uk" (yeah i dont have the money but i was curious).. NONE of the links on the first page are places to BUY A BLOODY COBRA!!! they are all these HORRIBLE link engine page generators, like toxiclemon and sapivi and redhotchilli. ARRRRGGGHHH!!!! cant google filter these b*stards out!! normally the only thing on the pages is other search engine results anyways!! this is FAAR more annoying than bloody popups or dead links ever were... ggaaaahhhh!
also. another rant. BLOODY FLASH ADVERTS.. a MILLION times worse than popups cos they hide what your trying to read and you cant bloody find the 'x' button on them without searching hard. FFS! im gonna uninstall flash in a minute...
-
I use a little applet called No! Flash to stop pop-up type stuff - works a treat.
try an alternate search engine ?
-
possibly because u have typed something in wrong? usually happens to me when it doesnt recognise what im looking for....
-
Maybe your search etiquette needs improving...
When you type something in like "Buy" it automatically brings all the shops under the sun to your fingers. And all the cruddy ones that are part of the same company under different URLS.
Try using the KEY words. Buy is not a key word
Cobra Kit would suffice, minimal yes - but direct, for a reason. Only websites containing the text "Cobra Kit" is going to be returned, instead of websites containing "Buy" etc etc...
Hope I'm clear,
Nick

i'll give that no!flash a go.
leadhead - i'm searching for all keywords, so cobra kit would find the shops as well.. that was just an example thou, im just tired of all these list sites popping up and not being of any use at all :(
-
yeah, dummy sites full of keywords about everything under the sun designed to only get search engine attention, then they usually pass you on to ebay or something else equally pointless :(
-
ever tried google whacking?
-
yeah, and i got the book :)

I often find searching with phrases helps a lot. For example (blue speech marks indicate start of query) "buy "cobra replica kit"" and use the search UK only option. See if that helps. Or similar. :)
