That is against ebay's rules... you are not allowed to charger extra for paypal afaik...

If enough people email google and request them to make a secure auction system asap, its more likely to happen! not sure how they would do this in the near future though, as everyone's feedback would be zero so who would be trustable? It would be full of scammers to start of with... I suppose they can have a built in escrow thingy included that checks for proof of postage properly (unlike paypal!)

just do what i do, set up a separate bank acount with no overdraft or anything just for use with ebay etc...

if i want to buy something i just deposit some money in the account and bid for it (usually keep the account topped up at about £50)
but that way it is totally separate from my main bank accounts and i don't need to worry about it.

I'd rather deal with an ad supported but legit and protected system with minimal cost to listing than greedy greedy ebay

they take something like 5% total of the selling price, some for listing and more for paypal, and you are practically forced to use paypal

Not to mention the STUPID overpricing of postage that appears now to cover peoples fees which is so blatant, like charging £8.99 to post a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable "standard parcels" aka when I can be bothered.

    Separate bank account here.

Paypal to me would be fine if they charged less commision and were significantly more secure. Wishful thinking I guess.

I use Google everyday but like others its increasingly insidious nature worries me.
I prefer to use auction specialists.

eBid and QXL have been around for donkeys but ebay stole their thunder years ago.
    All three suffer scams etc

Re: Building Rage, building in my chest....anger....anger...

Paypal blows like a hole in your spacesuit. I can't register my Paypal account (or verify or whatever) as I don't have a home in Britain, but it's funded out of a GBP account in order to minimise X-rate costs. Thus I can't sell on eBay.

Bastards. I have an unopened copy of Zelda for the Wii, but can't find anyone to sell it to who could pay me for it. Soon it will be too old to sell.

    My thoughts exactly.

I think I'd rather trust eBay/PayPal than hand over my bank details to Google .... and that's saying something - a bit like saying which method of being executed I'd prefer over another. All told, I'd prefer just not being executed.
