    Angry Valentine's Day

Is it just me that hates Valentine's day? It's a tradition with its foundation in middle age superstition, named after a martyr to a religion I have no belief in, which is now cynically expoited for commercial gain in a way I find distasteful. Screw it. I am not getting involved this year.

If my marriage has disintegrated by this time next week, you'll know why.

i dont hate it, i think if you're loosely dating someone its a nice oppertunity to do something nice and make an effort, without looking too cheesy. also its a good time of year to let someone know you fancy them - i'll probably be sending out 2 or 3 valentines cards, in the hope that one of them leads to something more

Maybe, I suppose. I never had a happy Valentine's day when I was single either, so again, screw it.

    Hurrah! Another V-Day hater!

Oh the joy... I hate it too and refuse to 'act' romantic on a day when everyone is 'supposed' to be loving. Being romantic is about surprises and off the cuff jestures which won't cost a re-mortgage, not having to book an over-priced restaurant and paying through the nose prices!

*sings "why do biiiiiirds suddenly appeeeeeear...."*

oh and we're setting up 2 of my mates they fancy each other rotten but are too shy to do anything about it, so we're setting them up nicely to give them a gentle dunt in the right direction...

Well, good for you and good luck, but wouldn't it be less embarrasing for them if it wasn't valentines day? (Maybe it wouldn't be, I'm just asking the question).

naaaaaaaaaaaaaah, see, valentines day is a saturday, so we're posting the cards to their houses. Now since all blokes have similar hand writing, we're getting my mate's bf to write the bloke's card to the girl and i can do the girls writing for her card to him. and since its a saturday, they dont have to face each other till monday, when it's his birthday and we're going to get them together over a few drinks in the pub.... They're a match made in heaven!

as for the hand made cards, they hold so much more meaning if u've put that extra bit of effort in than by going into clintons and picking up the first card you find!

the day in its modern form was created by the Hallmark card company, along with most "days" of the year that involve giving cards.

then again, it's an excuse to do something nice, so why not?

The one I love told me off for just buying her a card this year. She hates Valentines Day and pretty much agrees with Rave about the commercial side of things.

So we've agreed to have our own Valentine's Day, free from all the commercial bull****, on 27th May instead.

You seem to have thought of everything, this is clearly a foolproof plan!
