they shouldn't let kids like me vote lol
If Boris wins by one vote we all know who to blame

The other two voting forms were for London-wide Assembly Member, and London Assembly Constituency Candidates.

London Elects - The London Assembly

For these two forms I just chose whoever had the coolest sounding name

Apparently, if no one gets more than 50% of 1st choice votes then they include second choice... my second choice was the kenny boy so maybe it won't be my fault

I think a major problem is plenty of people who vote, don't understand the system, how are they going to make a decision?

That's true, I don't understand the system and my votes were rather random... although I have been living outside London for the past four years I only come back for summer holidays usually... so i have an excuse

It doesn't work like that. If no one gets above 50% of the vote the leading two candidates go through to a second round and the rest of the candidates get eliminated. They then count the second choice votes of the people who had their first choice candidates eliminated (if that makes sense ). So if Ken loses by one vote it's still your fault

I just pray for the day when we actually get a choice and it's no longer a 2 party system. Hopefully it will happen in my life time!

    Re: London Mayoral Election

Dammit, well at least London will be a more comical place if Boris gets in
I'm sure though that once he has responsibility he will grow up anyway

I don't really understand why people don't understand the system. Everyone should have got a booklet with very simple instructions on how the mayor is picked and how to vote (although I know there will be exceptions to this). On top of that it has been covered in the news as well. If people still aren't sure there is no reason why they can't ask. If people don't understand then they should either make the effort to find out or not bother voting.

    Re: London Mayoral Election

in short its designed to help people vote for the 'lesser' parties.

ie, we knwo its between ken and boris, but so people could still vote, say if they where an idoit who thought someone who can't be bothered to be environmentaly friendly was a good green candidate, they could vote for Sain with their first vote, then boris or ken with the second.

Then if one candidate fails to get below 50% iirc, they include second votes.

    Re: London Mayoral Election

So much ignorance on these boards. Any of you actually met Boris? Any of you know people who have lived in his constituency for 40 years? Any of you actually lived in his constituency for any length of time? Any of you ever written to him? Any of you read what his constituents actually think of him? Any of you seen how much work he does for his constituents and the effort he puts in?

No I thought not, all you do is parrot the usual nonsense you are fed and you think the carefully crafted buffoon image is not made up.

As for not voting for him cos he had an affair, do you realise how many illegitimate, bastard children the newt fancier has spawned?

Whilst I think that London deserves better, in my experience, if Boris' commitment to his constituents is anything to go by I think he'll be a very committed mayor. As for the racist remarks they are simply beyond the pale.
