The biggest headaches are always trying to get a new job, I remember spending 3 days going through 3 stages of psychometric tests/interviews/2nd interviews, told they had no-one to compare with me as no-one else passed through their recruitment process, 2 weeks later told that a person applied from a rival company and that they would go with him
Some of the factors for employment that come into play that I've noticed for the UK:
1) It is easier to get a job when you are already in a job.
2) Networking is king. Most people get into jobs because of people they know as this is due to the facts that companies are more comfortable getting in people who have been vouched for their knowledge. This also accounts for the many muppets who have no idea what they are doing
