I can't believe some of the negative comments from some posters. I signed up to get some PC help and found out about the free delivery from Scan while looking around the forum. I've since placed 3 orders with Scan totalling several hundred pounds and am about to place another large order soon (which I'm pretty sure covers the delivery costs)
And on top of this great offer I've also had some great help and suggestions from other members keen to help me out. No member has a monopoly over these forums unlike some of you seem to think...and not everyone on the net is a free-loader...
So I'd just like to say thanks to everyone at Hexus and Scan for your great help and service - you guys rock - keep it up!
Thing is, Scan have been offering free shipping to anyone attending any of the last 5/6 Multiplay I-events. All you had to do was leave your name and email address, and the Scan account associated with that email got the free delivery.
So in Hexus now doing it to welcome more people etc, this is good but . . . . I wonder how many people have already signed up for the free delivery via the I-series. It also raises the point, (not that im trying to take the shine off the announcement or anything) but is it really that much of a big achievement seeing as you can and have been for a while now been able to sign up for free shipping without the need for any further activity/input.
Sub 3,000 people go to iSeries not everyone takes up on the offer - but you are right, this is a way though you get the support from SCAN, you get the free shipping and you get the HEXUS.community - so there are more than a hook...
... If we focus on what others do - we are frankly stupid - we are keen to grow what we do and make more value to all of our members.

Well for that matter you used to get free delivery for answering/asking? questions about hardware on the scan site as well. But that didn't stop me from signing up to Hexus back in the day.
I find it so ironic that something alot of people have been very vocal about gets less replies than this thread - you just can't win sometimes
At the end of the day there are members here who don't post enough but don't use the offer they have signed up for because of it - its those members and the new ones who are the beneficiaries of this announcement.
As for the comments about an influx of members, well thats what we have the excellent mod team for - we will deal with these issues as and when they may arise. We have no problem with having new members around, and I for one am sure that they will stick around, which is good for existing members too.
To be quite honest, those of you who already have the post count, already have the priviledge and already utilise the priviledge of the Scan shipping don't really need to get involved here.
This change is a good move for all the community, the staff at HEXUS and Scan alike, lets leave it there - if you have the opportunity to use the service great - don't be afraid of a change in this - its all a big positive for HEXUS and its members...

Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
We have already see quite a few NEW customer's sign up to this offer within the last hour..
"It benefits others, but doesn't directly benefit me, so I'm against it".
carlsberg do run a website, its called carlsberg.co.uk
*sorry, couldn't resist*
actually the more i think about this idea the more it's starting to make sense
cos heXus gets more traffic and therefore more ad revenue and a higher awaresness, scan gets more orders thus more capitol so they both win
as to why i missed that point before... i will never know
Great stuff, it'll at least put an end to those 25 spam posts we had before. I wonder what percentage of new members will actually contribute anything other than the initial registration?
Well it's available from AVForums and PCPro in an instant so there's no point when theres 2 other places to get a quick free del.
cheeky
I say make their min spend higher if they want free delivery without contributing to the forums.
