doe anyone know where i can pick up an air con unit for cheap on the net?? not looking for something very powerfull just somethingfor my bedroom
Quality reply......
Cheapest Aircon units I've seen are around £200.
Try wickes, B+Q or focus type places.
Maybe you should considure a celing fan, they are probably a bit better than an air con unit for a bedroom.

These air con units can be had from b&q for around £150 and from what i am told they are quite effective. I imagine that hombase and do it all have them as well... maybe theres some in the new argos cat will ave a look for ya

i dont think the cheap ones are worth it, all they do is pass warm air over water, which should lower the temp by 7c but its more like 2-3 from what i hearOriginally posted by steve threlfall

A fan sitting 30cm from my face seems to do the trick here. Really you need to spend hundreds on an air conditioning unit, otherwise it's simply not worth it.

I have a ceiling fan in my living room and they are ace. Its an average sized room and the fan makes a big diffrence. Thats the most cost effective way of keeping vool then it seems
BTW, its not really worth it to get a cheap air con unit, as they do hardly anything to help. You need to spend a few hundred pounds at least to be getting a decent air con unit.

Man, my 'geek room' is 31C by night! Does it mean that I've to get up once every 2 hours to change the 'frozen bottle'??One frozen bottle will last, if the room temperature is 27C, around 3-4 hours.

BTW, Heatbusters has the Rowenta CA180, which I've been told is a half decent unit being offered at £350 right now.

The best air con units have a compressor in them. I have one now, but its really noisy, but it does keep the temp down. With water ones you have to change the water often, and they are not as good. The compressor ones are expensive though.
If you want decent air con, you need a split unit. But that will set you back about £1K.
we had a decent air-con unit in my form room at school, but it cost a hell of a lot. i need to get a ceiling fan for my room, as it was 28.5C at 3.45am this mornin
