    OCD Moment

I know nearly everyone has an OCD moment. My colleague keeps putting the water filter jug in the fridge in fear of it stagnating. Now we have tea and coffee every day, the water isn't in the jug long enough for it to stagnate, plus as its cold it takes more energy to heat up.

Driving me up the wall, plus the frigde isn't big anyway so it takes up most of the room!

Think I'll stick it on a chain.

Leave house. Lock door. Get in car. Start car. Think, "Did I lock the door?" Get out of car. Check door. Door locked.

I must do this at least once a week.

On the topic of water stagnation; I have left bottled tap water on my desk at work for up to 2 weeks whilst I am on holiday. On coming back I have drank the water and I ain't dead yet!

    Re: OCD Moment

I wash my hands a lot because I don't like the grease that builds up in the day but that's not really obsessive / compulsive because I can go without - I just prefer nice clean ungreasy hands especially when working.

I always glare at people who have gone toilet and not washed their hands, on a few occasions they backtrack from the door to wash their hands

If I don't double or triple check that the door is locked I will always go back otherwise I keep thinking it is open, even though 99% of the time it is locked.

I also have to double check the oven and the fridge/freezer

    Re: OCD Moment

I keep checking I still have my car/house keys on me throughout the day, at least 10 times or so, I get really paranoid about losing them, whats with being hundreds of miles away from my replacements and being in a new area.

    Re: OCD Moment

Minor amounts of OCD are perfectly normal.

I do quite a few. Key checking one - check, checking and re-checking house doors are locked front and back - check LOL.

I'm the same. Only other time is when I'm cleaning/washing up. Gotta do something a set amount of times before I move on, the set amount changes until I'm "happy" with it... bugs the hell out of me!

    Re: OCD Moment

All volumes (car stereo, TV, PC, office stereo....) must be set at an even number or a multiple of five.

I check my pocket for my phone/memory stick/small piece of rose quartz all the time, I know they're there, I didn't move them, but still I must check.

Bugs the crap out of me

Kinda! Minor amounts of compulsions are normal. But if it's minor amounts, then it's not really OCD

And yes, I should know Been there, got better, studied it, now try to help others. Anyone that's concerned about it, feel free to PM me!

Never seen it, but I shall have to watch it. I can take an OCD joke as well as anyone, I often tell them, it breaks the ice. But the funny thing to me is most of the folk telling those jokes (especially script writers) clearly don't have an earthly what they're talking about Even a lot of the websites that claim to help don't actually have much of a clue. People just presume it's always repetitive checking and stuff, that's only a teeny part of it.

Annoyingly, it's actually becoming the latest celebrity fad across the pond, and following a few big name admissions from Justin Timberlake, Cameron Diaz (that must have been a fun household ), Jessica Alba etc., a lot of lesser names are jumping onto the bandwagon as if it's something to be proud of. No doubt there'll be a lot of OCD Scientologists soon

Sorry if I got a bit too serious, it's just kinda difficult for me to talk about it jovially when I know a pile of people whose lives have been ruined by it. It isn't just people washing their hands 20 times a day, it can be way more serious. I got off lightly, didn't have any really problematic symptoms, I was a quick fix.

Anyway, I'll shush now, back to the funny stuff, sorry!

Whenever I'm at traffic lights or stuck in traffic etc, I keep checking im in first gear, if neccessary stick it back into neutral then back into first again. At T-lights I can do this 4 or 5 times!

And volumes for stuff has to go up either in 2's or so the end figure is an even number, no idea why!
