    NorthCliffe Media...

    Anyone just get a letter from them? i did this morning and its pretty random, they are saying they have lost my personal data and the list is, my name, address, bank account number and bank sort code that were on this "laptop". Is this just a joke or does a newspaper company really have the rights to have all that? it says stuff about contacting my bank etc. Im confused, someone care to explain? a 16 year old(posted on my bday, good one >.<) doesnt really get why my details are stored lol.

    Ill scan then letter in later.

    edit: wow its in the newspaper

    still, why the hell have they got my details when i never even read their paper etc

    Did you subscribe to any magazines previously?? That's the only way I can think that they have your data.

    meh, think i found the reason. I used to do a paper round with them, they paid directly to my bank so i guess they had that. Any idea what a bank can do? not like they can change my name, as all they need is your name +address+date of birth to set up bank accounts etc.

    If you used to work for them, then DMGT's spokesperson bent the truth somewhat when announcing:

    "The password-protected computer contained limited information on some current employers and suppliers from the group's newspaper division."

    Aye. Some current. Some non-current.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    i would contact your bank and see what they say - they might be able to change your account number or transfer your funds to a new account
