Exclamation PMT - A Losing Battle.

This is probably a strange thread, but it's part of life, so I thought I'd get the perspective of the fella's on the site. In the past I've never really had long or serious relationships, so I've never had to deal with the same female, and her nature for long...but I've been seeing a girl since last year sept...she was a friend of mine for a long time before that, we get on great... APART FROM WHEN SHE'S HORMONAL. the silly lil' things escalate to spitefulness and miscommunication. lol. And I'm a stubborn guy, but she's a stubborn girl, so I'll have to make the first move to make things right. Obviously because she's PMT'ing, she'll say It's my fault and she can't help it...which I totally and fully understand. And yes I can try and see it from their point of view, they are going through issues, but give a guy a break sometimes!

How do you guys handle it? Am I doing something fundamentally wrong? She's says I can't handle it, I think she's sees handling it as me sitting their smiling/nodding/agreeing/sugar coating and letting her rip my eyes out. My way of handling it is to say something....lol this is where the problems start.

Serious and non serious views welcome.

Re: PMT - A Losing Battle.

The thing is, sunny jim, she has no choice in the matter, she is in auto bad mood, she's not getting at you, its like trying to be civil when you've just traped your man blobs in the Xbox as the cd tray was closing. If she asked you to pass the newspaper after you'd just fished them out with a spoon handle, your reply might be a touch snappy.

So you have to be reasonable for both of you, because the balance of your mind is not disturbed by the moon, or Vampires, or whatever causes periods.

Being 'a stuborn guy' isn't going to get you anywhere.

Just get the woman a hot water bottle and keep your mouth shut. And if she snaps, give her a pass.

When Mr Blobby is back in his cage, do you get on perfectly well? If so, and it seems so as you have been together a while, then everything is fine.

Its just the birds and the bees. If she gives you a pass when she catches you looking at another girl in a short skirt, and you give her one when she has fallen to the communists, all should be well.

Forget being stubborn though, its more likely you can be a bit more understanding than she can stop menstruating

Re: PMT - A Losing Battle.

Aye, I'd second the hide bit. I'm serious too

Sriously though, there's not a lot you can do sometimes, even with the best intentions. I've been out with girls who have gone reacted in various extreme ways, from happy to horny to full-on mentalists. I'm as sympathetic as anyone, as it's a bloody horrible thing they have to go through, but sometimes there's just nowt you can do to help.

If I'm there, I tend to get the brunt of it. So I just smile, give 'em a hug, and try not to answer back. If I'm not there, they'll watch Love Actually or something similar, have a good cry, and be all loving when I get home! So it's just better giving them space sometimes, the trick is knowing when!

Only constructive thing I can suggest is St. Johns Wort, a few women I know swear by it.

Re: PMT - A Losing Battle.

I tend to dread it when my missus is hormonal, she picks up on EVERYTHING its bloody annoying, but as Stewart said, its not their choice to have a period so you can't blame for turning into the biggest ***** on the planet even if it is for about a week.

What matters is that you don't take to heart whatever she says or does to you when shes on the blob as when shes off it and you bring it up she won't like that very much as it'd show you up as being insensitive and rather self-centered.

I'll sympathise on both angles here, on the one hand, it does get to you sometimes but you have to remember shes not to blame so you should work out the best course of action for the both of you so you're out of her way but you're doing something constructive.

I personally would gather up a batch of good chums and head off to a pub for the day...but for the love of cheese try not to get too razzled as she might not like that either

I also find that chatting to my missus's best friends over the two years I've been going out with her has helped me to try and understand put things to do with her into context so its also worth being on good terms with her mates too

    Good luck you cheese.head

K that's it, I'm going to let her have space during the "evil times", I won't question her moods, and I won't be stubborn to warm to her again despite her being super *****.

    thanks for the advice.

Re: PMT - A Losing Battle.

Ah yes, that special all too frequest time of month where one learns patience and discipline under pressure.

I usually let Blobzilla get away with whatever the hell she wants during her 'get out of jail free card' week, it's not her fault and I certainly wouldn't want to endure it. Can you imagine if men got PMT, christ I'd end up in prison.

My only major annoyance is the mantra, I don't know if any of you other chaps get this one but I seem to get it right in the kisser every month......"It's not just the period you know!" Cuh...<aaand, duck>

However, on the flip side I always make damned sure that once we're out of the dark place and into happy joy-joy normality that she is made painfully aware of just what a first class cow she's been to me for the last 4 or 5 days. Amuses me how it appears to her she's been under the influence of some evil voodoo and had no control over her actions, with flashes of her evildoings coming to her like some sort of jekyll and hyde scene as she mutters without fail, "god I really was horrible wasn't I, I'm sorry it must have just been a bad one. From now on I'll try hard to not be nasty to you on my period......"

    Every freakin time.

And so we wait, counting the hours of sweet bliss until once again we are cast down into the writhing maw of misery and persecution that is PMT.
