    Knock-Off Nigel Downloads Knock-Off Films.

This advert it supposed to shame people into not downloading films from the net because if they do people will think they are trampy chavs, yes?

As if trampy chavs would care. You can't appeal to these people and their sense of shame. And anyway, everyone does it, so in real life there would be one little geeky kid, standing on his own singing at the whole office, all of whom aren't listening because they are watching downloaded anime.

    What a useless advert.

the thing i hate is the one minute of my life i have to waste to watch the ' you wouldnt steal a car... you wouldnt steal a handbag... downloading is a crime' adverts

i pay for a movie and i have to watch that crap everytime i want to watch what ive paid for. whereas pirate dvd's..... get my point tbh.

When you use the term knock-off, to me that means the thing is of lower quality than the real thing.

Who downloads low quality films or other such things? No one.

Re: Knock-Off Nigel Downloads Knock-Off Films.

We'll have to be carefull that this thread doesnt turn into open warez discussion

But il admit that it does make me wonder sometimes why I bother shelling out for a genuine dvd only to be greated by anti-piracy adverts, trailers for films I will never watch and ads for things like mars bars.

Iv no idea where the idea that downloading a movie off the web = low quality.....unless your downloading a screener or cam. In which case your either a moron that cant afford the cinema, or you cant wait for the R5 release...?

Whilst I'd never buy a knock off dvd (as this does fund crime), and personally have no pirate dvd's, I can see why people download films - quality is the same (dvdrip), if not better than dvd (if ripped from an HD source) - no ads etc, and I swear dvd's get more expensive - didnt new releases in supermarkets use to be £9..99?? Now they all seem to be £14+

What the hell? Just means I only buy dvd's in play.com etc sales when they come under £10....

Plus storage space for my hundred or so dvd's can be a pain - but tbh thats solved by a quick sale on hexus of everything Iv not watched lately, or I swap em with mates.

Re: Knock-Off Nigel Downloads Knock-Off Films.

And while I'm at it, that ad for drink driving (don't drink and drive kids) with the one actor doing all the different characters.

The bit where he plays the part of a dodgy car dealer going 'I know there's only 20 thousand on the clock but thats my final offer'

Why, if I got caught drinking and driving, would I have to sell my car to a crap Del Boy look-a-like for an unfair price?

'I know there's only 20 thousand on the clock, but thats my final offer'

'Erm, well, thats a little less than I was looking for, so I'll have to say no thanks mate, and get a few more offers'

Has there been a law passed that says you can't say that if you are selling the car because you got caught drink driving?

Strange anti drink driving message. Drink and drive and you'll have to sell your car to a cockney prat for 56p. That isn't true, but isn't the man who does all the voices funny? He so funny! DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! (or buy knock of dvds)

    well said vrykyl

and i wish that they'd put some effort into the anti-piracy ads, something more subtle and well informed , that doesn't look like it was made for a kiddy's tv show

Re: Knock-Off Nigel Downloads Knock-Off Films.

That advert is terrible, and also it's just wrong. 5 years ago when you downloaded a film it'd probably be crappy quality and low res, these days that's just not the case. Downloading a film would actually get me a higher quality, because I don't have a blue-ray player, but I can play 1080p full HD video files on my monitor just fine.

They're also lumping in buying fake DVDs with downloading off the internet, totally different issues IMO, no-one I know ever bought a fake DVD.

all of your office watches anime? Where do you work the national pedo training center?!

With the advent of the iPlayer and the like (4oD, SkyPlayer etc) i think fewer and fewer people are illegally watching TV shows, which was the biggest cause. For most plebs its still easyer and quicker to buy the dvd, and those who have friends still want to goto the cinema anyway.

I'd say piracy is probably going to platuo atm because of the TV on demand breakthrough.

Re: Knock-Off Nigel Downloads Knock-Off Films.

I'd agree with TheAnimus on this one.

you also have a lot of sad geeks that download masses of content simply because they can and have nothing better to do with their time.

Pretty sure if you take these people out of the piracy equation (because they wouldn't buy the content if they couldn't get it for nothing), there would be a lot less for the content producers to get upset about.

Manga on the other hand, is for pervs.
