    Quitting my job

    So, seeing as it's the summer and i'm not going back into education until mid-september, I got a job at the bastion of quality and cleanliness that is McDonalds, for some extra cash. Now shocklingly, it's not the best job in the world. I'm considering quitting soon and either getting a less greasy job or bumming around watching Trisha like a proper student/unemployed dude, since I've saved up enough money to get through the rest of summer comfortably.

    I'm vaguely aware of having to work a two-week notice after resigning, but is there anything actually stopping me just quitting after pay-day?

    Ronald has had some bad luck of late,

    All this hanging around with little kids has been frowned upon.. apparently.

    Re: Quitting my job

    That's what you get for trusting a bloke named Ronald tbh
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.

    Re: Quitting my job

    Well, if you want to be able to use the job on your CV when it comes to getting your first proper job once you leave uni, then yes that'll stop you just quitting. I'd recomend serving your notice period, because whilst it might *only* be McDonald's, having managed to keep down a job over the summer shows employeers that you're a dedicated individual who isn't afraid of hard work.

    This is especially important as these days, a degree does NOT automatically get you into a relevant job at the end of it.

    I get your point, and if it were any other employer you'd be right. But McD's is run so unethically that morally I don't give two hoots whether it inconveniences them. If they wanted me to stay they'd pay me more than minimum wage for standing infront of 151 degree vats of shortening and getting shouted at by drivethru people all day.

    Thanks for this, I hadn't quite thought about whether I would put it on my cv. I definately intend on getting another job before uni, so I suppose a reference would be helpful.
    Would a reference be worth another two weeks work, considering I've only worked there for a few weeks anyway?

    Bin it, wait till you get paid, announce you are leaving and go.

    Any employer that you are going to work for full time will not be interested in McDonalds as a refrence regardless.

    Why waste time doing something you dont want to do in life?
