Hello,
I used to work for a company who paid me a car allowance and I claimed back business millage each month at 40p for the first 10,000 miles then 15p thereafter. I then claimed back the rest in my tax return at the end of the year.
I now work for a company that still pays me a car allowance but they also give me a fuel card. I am told that they will fill out a p11d and send it into the IR for me.
My question is when will this kick in for my tax code and do they ask for anything upfront. I worked out it should cost me around £800 which works out cheaper than my paying for fuel myself but I don't fancy paying for it all in one go.
Another question - I have been offered Bupa for me an my family but have been advised that again this is a benefit in kind and so i will be taxed on it. Does anyone know how much and again if it will just be taken off me each month or in one go.
Sorry for rambling, I just get a bit confused about the whole benefit in kind thing.
