There's only 3 of us left in our office today and two are in admin roles. Everyone else is either striking or working from home to avoid crossing the picket lines (which there aren't any of at our office ).
Some people here off striking, although I doubt they are the ones with the billboards and chanting stuff. I decided not to.
Strike?
600,000 public service workers are striking today and tomorrow over low pay.

Meh, not Scotland so it doesn't matter
Like they need an excuse to get out of work hey If they were striking all we'd see is images of them drinking bucky and chanting like football fans on the BBC.
Good job my missus is a luddite and can't use PC's or I'd be hung, drawn and quartered for saying that about the Scots lol

Meh. People really need to learn that if they dont like their pay they can always get another job.
"In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship."
About 4 people were outside the local council with signs saying toot your horns in support – needless to say there was only traffic noise.. At a time when most people are stuggling I don’t think the man In the street has much sympathy for the those in safe, secure jobs (this council has a no redundancy policy if your job inst needed any more then they find you something else) that’s reasonably well payed and has loads of other benefits like good pensions and flexi. I can understand where they are coming money is tight and thet feel they deserve more but it’s a bit ill timed at the moment. Some of them need to come to real world where you cant work 9 day fortnights and you might get a reasonable wage if your lucky...
Permanently confused
is this the Unison strike you are referring to?
The support staff (Teaching Assistants, IT Technicians) at the school i work at are meant to be on strike but no one can be bothered as it is the end of term and it won't make any impact at all strike due to this.
We have local council workers in our building so there were picket lines outside today. They were disappointingly quite, not chanting or burning barrels or anything.
It did cause a small problem when a delivery driver decided not to pass the line this morning, but after a quick phone call/rant he came back so no real harm done. (apart from a temporary rise in my blood pressure)
Day two today. Head on the news they may consider more action if these are not effective.
Well I hardly think striking is going to solve the high oil and food prices that have pushed up inflation so much that they don't like their pay deal.
We're technically part of a union who are meant to be striking, but they've not even communicated anything about it to us, nor would I expect any of us to take action - hurting agricultural research certainly isn't the way to lower food prices.
I think its a joke tbh. Everyone is getting bad payrises if any payrise at all. My job offered us 3%. The country is going to the S***s and payrises arent going to help it in the long run.
To be honest maybe civil workers get bad pay. I had the mindset that they got better pay than most.
If you take the last 10 years most working class people are way below inflation rate in terms of pay once you add it up.
