    Good old sky TV

So, a couple of weeks back I phoned up sky to enquire as to how they sort things if you are moving house, they tell me you have to take your old box with you and if there isn`t a dish at the new property (which there isn`t) they charge £60 to put up your old one there.

Ok I say, how about if I just cancel my account and re-apply as a new customer, it`s only £30 then and I get all new stuff, no they say, "it doesn`t work like that". Oh yes it bloody does thinks I. So anyway, phoned them up yesterday to cancel my account and told them I couldnt afford it anymore, once thats done i`ll just re-apply online using a different bank account.
But to my pleasure the nice man on the end of the phone tried his damndest to keep me as a customer (been with them for 9 years you see), in the end I got a free sky+ box and new dish at the property i`m moving to. Excellent.

Only down side is im having to use them as my broadband supplier, the new flat doesn`t have cable broadband, goodbye 20meg line

Sky broadband is actually pretty good. Couple of my mates are on it, and they are syncing up at around 16 meg and downloading at nearer 10 meg a second, at least Sky have their hardware in your telephone exchange

I`m hoping for half decent speeds, the exchange is only 3/4 mile away so fingers crossed I won`t notice too much of a speed difference.

When I moved house they sent the installation guy to my old house. Twice.

When they finally reached the right house, I was told I couldn't get a signal because of the trees nearby. Cheers Sky

    Seriously, thats pretty bad.

Sending the engineer to the wrong place was bad enough once, but twice ?

    Sky...

1000 channels of which you'll watch about 3. As for then getting the additional sky boxes?

    Sometimes I'm glad I don't have Sky/TV.

However.. getting it wrong two times is a little strange... Did they bill you for their time?
