    Telephone Interview

    Hello all

Well as the title says really, I've got a telephone interview tomorrow.

This interview is for Zen and is my first telephone interview, EVER.

The position I applied for is Technical Support Services Consultant.

I was wondering what type of questions to expect during the phone interview, I have been told the interview will last about 30 minutes.

So what questions should I expect to have thrown at me?

    Thanks

    Anthony

    Re: Telephone Interview

Put them on hold for half an hour and the job's yours

Seriously though, good luck with it
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

    Re: Telephone Interview

Thanks lol if only that would work

I have been sent an e-mail with helpfull information.

I have to answer questions about the company, there type of customers and the services they provide.

Then some based on my experience (rofl)

    Then some technical question.

Thanks for the good luck, am assuming that if I get through this interview I will have to go for a proper person to person interview.

    Re: Telephone Interview

Make sure you plan for some questions to ask, to show interest in the company and also if possible related to the area the interviewer works in

Good luck though, took me 3 phone interviews and a regular one to get my intern placement at MS

I will ask questions about what training they offer if I want to progress in a specific line or work and such.

Also I had a phone interview for RM (yep the awful school computers people)

and best bit of advice ive got to give is, make sure you speak VERY clearly etc, because not only will you be nervous etc, but you'll also be talking down a phone line, which muffles voices that bit extra!

    Cheers Kopite

I know some basic stuff about the company lol...started in 1995, now employ over 250 people, offer webdesign, hosting, domain names and backup services.

They offer there services to both Home and Business users.

DSL, when you say DSL based questions, what sort of questions would you say they may ask?

Basic stuff like what does it stand for and such?

TVP is on the North East side of Reading, so you're kindof on the opposite side lol

    On Topic:

Make notes beforehand, sounds good when you can basically make a decent answer on the spot, and a few key notes really help, like some facts, figures/info etc

Well what it stands for is a start.

Technical questions are stuff like what info would u need to configure a router username etc, how would u set up the computer to connect to router in the first place(ip address, subnet gateway etc) whats dns and how does it work.

    Re: Telephone Interview

The one telephone interview I had consisted of about 25 minutes of the other guy explaining what the company did and what my role would be, etc etc, and by the time he'd got around to the 'any questions?' part he'd answered all the questions I'd prepared already, so it ended there. Although I still got invited to an interview (didn't get the job in the end though).

    Re: Telephone Interview

    stand up, slowly pace.

This carms you, and ensures your not hunched so your voice is nice and clear, its amazing the difference this can have.

Remeber its very difficult to give a good phone interview, they should be trying to coax you into showing you've got knowledge. And also in technical interviews just f**king google it is a PERFECTLY VALID AWNSER.

I tried so hard to get this guy today to say it, i really did my level best to get him to say "you can't expect anyone to know that, only be adapatable and know where to quickly look. I'd <insert search engine here> it".
