Is it safe selling my contract phone?

    Hi folks,

I have just been offered an upgrade phone which I don't want to keep. Hence I am looking at selling it on ebay.

I was just wondering if it is safe especially in the current climate of terrorism. Call me paranoid but if someone bought one off ebay to use for illegal purposes, will the IMEI be traced back from my network provider to myself.

    What do you all think?

Although that just means that Blitzen's phone's never been bought by a terrorist....

Given the number of terrorists out there, I reckon it's just a matter of time....

Why wouldn't they just go and buy one of those £5 ASDA phones?

IIRC most network providers can't trace the IMEI unless the handset has been registered anyway?

Wouldn't the handset be registered to you as an upgrade?

The safest bet is if you sell it to the most non-terrorist type of person. Someone's nana!

Re: Is it safe selling my contract phone?

The main problems you get is if you allow international buyers to bid on it.

If selling a phone on ebay I'd recommend: UK only, block people who have negative feedback, and there's a few other options you can select.

If they pay by paypal make sure the address is verified / confirmed, and make sure you send it recorded - if it's worth less than £27 or special delivery - if it's worth more than £27.

Jumping out of a place at 14000 feet is safe .... unless the parachutes don't open.

Or rather, I suppose, even then, the jumping bit is pretty safe. It's landing that isn't.
