    New Puppy!

Decided it was time to get a dog again (2 years since we had a dog, and before that I've had a dog all my life!)

Here she is, 5 weeks old, we collect her in 3 weeks (person holding the puppy is my mum lol)

BUT...... she (the puppy) is currently nameless!

So, can you think of a decent name - something original, something you wont feel a pillock shouting out in the park, something with a bit of meaning / relevence

Ebony and Sooty have already been suggested, and rejected, so not them two!

something a little different to the norm, but i wouldn't mind shouting...

adds a bit more class than 'Rover' or 'Jess'

    Re: New Puppy!

    Awwwwwwwww....!

I so want a puppy as well :'( It's best to spend some time with the puppy and think of a name based on one of its traits maybe. Sure, puppies being what they are...would typically get names lazy, goofy, sleepy or some such following this method...but at least it wouldn't be something random.

The hardest part is dealing with the loss of the loved one (pet or otherwise) and am not so sure my Mom is too keen on having a new puppy in the house. I guess I'll have to bring it up again sometime

    Timber!
When I was very young, the dog we had was called Sapphire. You could try other gem stones as names.

    Awwww I want one!

As Mike suggested see how the dog is then name her.

One of my friends labradors is called Tumble, because as a puppy he had trouble staying on four legs in there garden and usually ended up tumbling over and ending up in a heap of dog.

That's pretty much why it's nearly a 2 year gap between us having a dog tbh bsodmike

Still, on to new beginnings - and its already having a positive effect - making us sort out the house and try to make it puppy proof! (Goes go B&Q to get some conduit for geek cables )

    Re: New Puppy!

Yea, I know the feeling too...but having a new puppy around is also great I guess. I was about to suggest 'puppy' proofing the place as well...congrats, you're very lucky!!!

    Re: New Puppy!

Fanny. It's a girls name, ends in "y", sounds alright when you shout it at the top of your voice in public.

The missus and I are thinking about getting a puppy at the moment. I had a Chow/Alsation cross that passed away 12 years ago, and it's taken me this long to even consider taking in a new doggy.

    Re: New Puppy!

My fave so far, my idea lol, is BeBe, others in the ranking (family suggestions) include Betsy, Gemma and Sophie!!

TakTak - I hear you on the more unusual tip - I wanted something like that, however, my dad will probably forget it or say something similar but completely inappropriate lol.

Based on the colour (and she has a small bit of white on one foot) I was keen on Guinness.

    Re: New Puppy!

My friend has a dog named "black b******" as they started calling it that when it got in the way, and the name stuck ever after.

However, shouting that across the neighborhood might cause some problems...
