1.5m posts, that's a helluva lot :o
close to three milestones... :D
not bad*, especially considering theres loads missing from that... (before the hack, welcome threads etc)
*infact, it's bloomin brilliant, let me take this moment to thank all of the admin/mods/randomers for their work :) tis such a great site.
not bad considering how many times we've had to start from scratch :)
http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...ys/25ugoex.gif WE HAVE WELCOME THEADS?!

Okay.. now let's count all the constructive and helpful posts..
We're down to about 4500 maybe? Maybe the milestone is 5000 useful posts....
sod the useful, No1 is entertaining. thats where you get your pull, after that you can focus on the other stuff
Is that supposed to be "Number one is entertaining" or "No one is entertaining?"
number one. i cant be bothered remembering the key presses to the flying o. i know ß cause i use it all the time.. flying o.. no
Is there a reward up for the 1.5millionth post? ;)
Do you WANT these forums to be spammed any worse than they aren't already?
and yet in arguing you just bring us a post closer...
Of course.. If I happen to be the 1500000th poster I'll be expecting a prize....
/goes off to find another thread to post on.
like the date of your own death i think we can safely say forum milestones are something people shouldn't know
Yeah, I'll agree with that.
Knowing my own death date would be freaky. Although in terms of dying as the person with the most debt, the most crimes committed and more besides MIGHT be fun.
I don't know. It requires debate! Anyone up for a semi-serious debate at this time of night?
EDIT: Ferret WOULD post on top of me wouldn't he?
A kettle? I need one of them...
well i am but the spelling will slowly be subject to entropy as i cant be bothered to use the spell checker anymore. but no doubt it will just be more and more inspired
so.. are we talking about knowing the date of your own death, or the similarities between knowing the date of your own death and knowing forum milestones?
About knowing the date of your own death.
Forum milestones aren't even in the same league I don't think. You're welcome to disagree with me of course.
I can naturally see the resemblance between a high rise in debt and a surefire way of knowing your own death date.. Given the chance wouldn't you throw yourself into life totally if you knew you couldn't die before such and such a time on such and such a day?
Or is knowing your time of death different to knowing what time you're supposed to die? Does what we do have any influence on the world at all?
unfortunately, unlike animals we have the option to create our own death dates. which somewhat rubbishes the idea there could ever be a fixed one. the good old circa 1998 "death clock" that i reckon a hell of a lot of people here have went on at some point totally ignored actual life and went straight for the "worst case but best case scenario".. as in you wont jump off a bridge into 1m of water, but that bad living? yeah thats going to do you in ASAP
you cant know the date of your death to within a year nevermind a day unless your already on the downward spiral - because its not fixed
watched the bucket list recently - was ok, bit depressing
However, it can be argued that thruogh the knowledge of knowing your death date, you change it, therefore meaning that you can't actually know what it is, only what it was until you had the knowledge of when it was.
And how do you know that animals don't create their own death dates? Scientists might be wrong, and lemmings might commit suicide rather than homicide....
how would you know the difference if someone gave you a fake death date? suddenly stopping smoking or something is bound to help, but that doesnt require a fixed date to make it happen, just the impression of one.
and no, if animals did create there own death dates (the lemming one is brilliant btw as Disney has fused that into so many minds) - they are doing it autonomously, which there actually not because they dont
Saying something happens because it does isn't exactly giving a reason for it.. how can I debate if you don't give me anything TOO debate?
And it wouldn't be a fake death date, it'd just be a date at which you would have died. However, telling a fake death date and a real death date apart would be impossible.
You could, however, if there was a 100% way of finding out, find out other people's death dates.. Although why you would want to, and not then showing it to them so that it influences the death date, would be a confused reason.
And I only know lemmings kill each other because someone told me to go and check whether or not they actually did go jumping. I learnt from my mistake.
so if there was a way of knowing... you could know? wow thats deep..Quote:

and also, you could change it by making them dead yourself :)
So knowledge of something fatal happening is never totally true.
Reminds me of the stories you read where they learn that they're going to do something in their later life, then kill themselves to avoid doing it. However, their deaths trigger a chain of events which means that the same thing happens anyway.
Also reminds me of Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy and the Ultimate Quesiton:
"In the universe you can either have the answer to the quesiton or the question to the ansewr, but not both, as they would cancel each other out, ending the universe."
You can either know what day you're going to die, but not that you're going to die on it, or you can not know what day you're going to die and be wondering about that instead.
