    The impatient tv license people

well we all know how annoying they are but when it comes to not having one but as ive just discovered they go straight for the throat dont they?

im moving into a flat shortly and went round the other day to check for post etc and i see a form about a tv license fair enough i thought but when i read it i was quite surprised

your details are being passed on etc
    we use sophisticated detecting equipment
    blah blah blah
i take it all with a pinch of salt as i know these detector vans they speak of dont exist
but the saying 'give me a chance' springs to mind! i dont even live there yet and as far as im aware there isnt even an aerial on the roof! geesh.

    rant over.

Re: The impatient tv license people

can somebody explain what this means?
is it basically saying that if you pay your tv license monthly starting from half way in the year we'll charge you more a month so you'll pay for a years worth despite only having 6 months

If you don't require a licence for the entire year, you may be able to apply for a refund".

well i will be there for more than a year but are they basically saying that they have a certain cut off point so to speak, like they consider a year from the first month tith the 12th (december)

if i was to start paying monthly from now would they effectively be charging me from january gone?

Re: The impatient tv license people

Basically you pay for a full year in 6 months worth of DD, and then continue to pay for each month as it gets used. In effect you can stop your DD at any time and still have 6 months left on your license payments.

Where does it say that then...?

BBC Magazines, formerly known as BBC Publications, publishes the Radio Times (and published the now-defunct The Listener) as well as a number of magazines that support BBC programming such as BBC Top Gear, BBC Good Food, BBC Sky at Night, BBC History, BBC Wildlife and BBC Music.
That's only saying that the magazine supports the show content wise.

As far as I understood, the BBC are not allowed to plough the profits from BBC Worldwide and suchlike back into shows for anti-competitive reasons.

I suppose if BBC Worldwide funded the show and then the BBC bought it back on the same kind of license as if it were a third party production then that would work.
