Re: HELP find me a Christmas job.
I would have thought it was quite easy to aim for the currys/pc world /staples (normally very willing to hire as they gave me a job :p) /toys 'r' us crowd over xmas. Get your application or name down for them now though as they will go very quick.
Whether they will want warehouse workers or shop floor though I don't know. The thing to remember though is as long as you aren't on the till in these sorts of jobs your public contact is generally limited to them asking you where something is, which all you need do is
A) remember where the things are
B) Say follow me, or if you are lazy.. point lol
this could actually be a nice way to improve your confidence. Because any serious issues, you just send them off to the supervisors and mostly people will be grateful for your help and there is at least some satisfaction to be had from being thanked.
The best thing about these sorts of jobs is the challenge of finding the perfect way to do nothing for 8 hours. You can pass the hours so easily in this way :D
Factory work which I have racked up a total of a whopping 2 days of is awful. It will be boiling in the summer, freezing in the winter no doubt, the people are generally not very friendly from what I saw and the work is completely mindless and there is no way out of it.
Re: HELP find me a Christmas job.
What about a job working in a Santas Grotto?

NEXT QUESTION -
how do i go about 'getting my name down early'. Is it just a case of going into the store and asking if they have any jobs/application forms and such.?
I really have no clue how to go about it in the slightest.:embarrassed:
no more suggestions about santa - I cant stand children - they stare too much.:censored:
Re: HELP find me a Christmas job.
Yeah just pop in and say do you have any jobs going or will you for xmas and see what they say. The worst they can say is no but chances are they will give you an application just in case.

Not always the case.
Alot of places/nearly all the supermarkets DONT advertise jobs on there site, unless its for some corporate/exec job. If they were to advertise every vacancy for every store, it would just be impossible, and would cost far too much. Hence the job boards in most stores.
Re: HELP find me a Christmas job.
i found that advanced RAF weapons tester online..:p
and i have noticed that the websites seem to be slower advertising, must be something to do with what rastaman's talking about.. they advertise instore, and do online as a last resort just to top up the numbers for interviews. but usually by the time the website advert pops up, the job has already gone to someone who went instore..
hence, why i'm trying it this way this year.. trying to get in early enough so the suckers can give me money for not doing much.. ;)
completely forgot about job boards instore too.. thanks rasta!.. it'll be a busy trudge round southport for me this week..
I'd better call about that job i linked a few posts back.. edit: still not called yet:shocked2: phones recharging..
Re: HELP find me a Christmas job.
Why not try the building trade as a laborer just call on site and ask the site agent and if you show your willing by having the work clothes/boots on you might be lucky and start there and then. worked for me on many occasion good luck looking in any event..:)

At least it'll get you fit!! Burn off some of that cake. :)
I would just say ask around... I got a repeat job in the body shop 3 xmases running because I went in and asked if they had any jobs going. and they kept taking me back too (I mainly worked in the warehouse coz I didn't like customers... strange huh!)
