What a Lovely Cat

Got back from work today only to find that my cat had left my a gift inside the house. A small live mouse:surprised:. The pesky cat. :censored:
So what to do. Well first i put the cat in the room with the mouse in and the cat looked at me like what do you want me to do about it. its your problem now. So that idea failed. I then tried to trick it into a cardboard box with cheese and food but that didn't work. So my thing is what to do know before i can go into town tommorow and get a (humane) mouse trap.
Is ther anything i can try this evening to stop it making a mess. :help:

your lucky, my cat sometimes brang home birds that were still alive but barely moving! :o

The humane mouse traps don't work from my experience... in fact we even had the pest control people out with the small boxes full of mouse poison - the mouse ate it - and survived. We call him little mousey now.

Hmmmm. Perhaps i should by two. A humane one and a more traditional one. Why the cat just doesn't want to catch it. It's fast asleep now (spends the whole day like this :) ) and won't budge. Grrr

they will be more tempted by chocolate than cheese - you might try that...

I did try to use other food like biscuits raisans but i didn't try that. I'll go do that.

I just let the cat finish the damn job.

Not just your cat, mine did that as well. Also does the half dead bird thing. Fortunately mine was persuaded to continue the fun and catch it. The family joining in as if it was a team game seemed to help.:laugh:

Do you actually know where the mouse is...I know they're nippy little gits but it's not impossible to whack a box over it if you're lucky. This looks like a decent idea.

This has happened to me a handful of times and what I do is I get a broom and then I chase and scare the mouse out into the open. Then I direct it out the door. The poor thing though looks very scared when it comes out in the open and usually runs to the corner trying to escape my wrath.

Alas I dont have the heart to kill it and this whole procedure can take 2 hours...

It was about to eat the chocolate but as i got up to get ready it ran off. At least the cat seems involved know.

Try and save mousie if possible plz, it's less than 24 hrs if you get a humane trap tomorrow after all (and they work fine in my experience - white chocolate did the trick in no time). Just shut it in if you can put up with it, not going to make that much mess in one night.. I took mine out to nearby fields, it looked very happy that I'd spared it's little life :D it was a heartwarming moment. (Am I moving you to tears yet? :mrgreen:)

That cats stopped being involved know. gone back to its life of sleeping. Planning to get a humane trap tommorow hopefully but i'm on Standby tommorow so it would be just my luck to get called out. I don't really wan to kill it as it's done nothing wrong

Yes but it mistook your kindness for an act of aggression. The mouse may have called for reinforcements. A large army of mice could be converging on your house as we speak :surprised: :D

Got a mouse trap today and after and two hours its worked. Let it out my my neighbors garden :) and i can know watch tv without running across the floor.

Put some Chocolate covered raisans in it and within two hours the mouse was inside.

Humane traps don't work very well if the mouse takes a fancy to living in your house.

If you leave it, it'll be in and out of your kitchen cupboards, pissing all over your cups and plates and chewing at your wiring.

Ring the council, they will send a bloke with some poison and within a couple of days the mouse will be deadus feckus.

Mine is this, and it hasn't worked at all: from bnq

Humane traps work a treat if you get the right one. I then take the time to transport the things a mile or so from my house to make sure they don't find their way in via Hiss.

I've had the classic style traps remove the odd tail or foot, which then leaves a mouse decomposing somewhere hard to get at.... which smells.

They're quite easy to catch in a room once you work from the principle that mice like to run along walls rather than out in the open.

My cats don't leave the house- we live on a busy road with four bus routes going up and down, and they're pedigrees so I worry about them being pinched. We haven't seen a single mouse in here since we got them though, we had loads the year before we got them.

Although it's not nice killing mice, they are a pest who can cause a lot of damage and/or hygiene problems. We used to poison them and trap them (they bleed a bit disgustingly if they go into a trap after eating the poison). If I ever caught one who was dozy from the poison I used to take it outside and hurl it on the ground to put it out of its misery.

not entirely sure if it will affect the cat, but on a general note, sonic repellers work great for keeping mice away!

Shotguns work great. Just point the thing at the mouse and pull both triggers. Suddenly no more mouse! I still haven't worked out where the mouse goes but it definitely works!
