    Question "The One"

What I want to know, is there such a thing as "The One", that perfect person you were predestined to meet, that's your perfect partner? Love at first sight? Or do we just generally settle for a good approximation?

Seems that the ladies tend to hold this ideal more than men. I think chaps are, in general, a lot less fussy. Not saying that it never happens, I know a lot of my friends who have long and lovinig relationships & they will state that their respective partner is in deed "The One" and it was definately love at first sight. Just inquisitive to hear the views of the Hexus populus.

Ok, forgive my early morning insomnia fuleled ramblings. Mebbee, 40 years, 2 failed marriages & 4 children have just made me cynical ... But hey, life is still good!

    Re: "The One"

    No such thing

There are far to many people in the world for there to be "the one"

I've been with my current partner for 9 years now and I am still very much in love with her and tell her so everyday and I can't see myself being with anyone else, but what percentage of the UK female population have I met, 0.1% maybe? let alone the world.

If people do genuinely believe there is "the one" out there then good luck finding them

Once you have seen it you will never be the same

Yeah, far, far too many people on the planet for the one person who's 'meant' for you. A nice idea though.

    Re: "The One"

I don't think your pre-destined to meet "the one" or someone you consider a perfect match. but you might come across someone who your good with, and that person will be the one for you... or then again you might not.

If you get with someone and they ain't so great, for you in whatever way, never put up with it or settle, always be good to your self, confident, and better your situations in life, whatever they may be.

but if you do meet someone who is totally on your wavelength/level/match, who understands you and puts your feelings etc first. then that is great.

    Re: "The One"

Thats a hard question, I guess you will only really know if they are "the one" (I thought you were going to talk about The Matrix for a min!) when you get married. The serious relationships I have had I thought they would be "the one" turns out its not.

Although I know some people have met and knew, so it varies I guess. I do believe if there is someone for you, then you will be together.

    Re: "The One"

Another factor is that people change. I was engaged - for a long term relationship - and by the time we broke-up we were very different people. If you'd asked me if I thought she was 'the one' about two years into it, I probably would've said yes.

It's all down to compatibility - what you like about a person and what you're prepared to put up with ultimately. It strikes me with billions of people out there as potential partners that to think there's one 'special' person out there is pretty unrealistic...

    Re: "The One"

"The One" I also thought this would be about the one in the phrophsey who will lead us to victory against the forces of darkness. The ring bearer.

I think it would be very Nieave (Excuse the spelling) to think that there is "The one"

Maybe you'll find someone you will be happy with until the end of your life.
You never know, You may find a few like that eh?

    Re: "The One"

I thought people that talked about "the one" were crazy using the how many women in world argument all time. But quite honestly and just like love, it is only another feeling, and I do feel like I'm with the one.
I firmly believe that nothing nothing short of one us dying will break us up and if that should happen, I don't honestly think I would even try and find someone else.

Everyone's different of course and no one can tell you how something feels..you have to feel it for yourself

There is also a very twisty tale of fate that brought us together, but that could all just be coincidence lol

So I don't necessarily believe that there is a "the one".. I think it's another feeling like love. But if you feel it, it's an even harder thing to shake off even if you really wanted to (which I don't).

Perhaps what I'm saying is that there isn't a "the one" until you are actually with them and have been for some time. Because however much you know someone, there is almost always things you didn't know before you were together and that may or may not affect how you feel.

Good one clunk. I'm still young although I've not met "the one" yet. What has me most concerned is the attitude of most of the current generation, lack of morals and loyalty, cheating and divorce seems to be a trend and the 'in' thing.

Sorry if I sound rather gloomy but...*sigh*...I hope I meet that special someone some day who'll knock my socks right off
