My mate has gone self employed installing sat dishes, repairing TV's, setting up audio / visual equipment etc etc.
Now, he visits peoples homes, obviously, so, what type of insurance would he need or should go for? Thanks

Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance iirc mate.
which one or both?
Note the word AND in my sentence.
Public Liability insurance is designed to cover third party claims against your business.
Professional Indemnity covers mistakes and negligence - saying you'll do something and then not.
(Professional error, omission or act of negligence towards a third party to whom you owe a duty of care.)
He may not NEED both, but both should cover him completely for everything.
I can PM you a good company and bloke he can chat to (I used to work in insurance). He'll explain exactly what he needs.
