    Payment Transfer Times

Now this may be a random question but I owe my parents some money due to them buying a bike which i couldn't get round my area but i promised i'd pay them by the end of today. Well i completly forgot about until yesterday but didn't have access to internet which i felt was secure enough to do online banking.
so i've just put the money across now and was wondering how long does it take. They're both Lloydstsb acounts so i would thought it should be instant (but its Sunday). Just wondering if anyone knows how long it takes.

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

Should happen within 1 day for the same bank. I don't think it'll be 'instant', but if you're lucky might be done first thing tomorrow.

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

I had money paid to me from a Halifax account into my Halifax account. Took about 30 min for the payment to turn up. It should not take more than a day if that!!!

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

Bank transfer is pretty much instant nowadays. A couple of months ago it was not, it would have normally taken a couple of working days for money to be transferred between two different accounts (different bank), and about a day or less for the same account (same bank). However I think the banks have changed their system now, so as I've said its pretty much instant (within a couple hours at max).

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

Yeah, if they are the same bank it would be pretty much instant.

I transfered money to a friend last sunday (i think it was sunday) expecting it to take a few days. It appeard in their account within half an hour. I'm with RBoS, no idea what bank they are with, but pretty sure it isn't RBoS.

Cheers for all your help guys. I take it that the verdict is within a couple of hours max one day.

I just wondered and it may come in useful for paying bills and stuff later one

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

As long as it's the same bank, yes. Otherwise, it depends. Since the introduction of Faster Payments Service, it is possible to get fast money transfers across some different banks, but I would be careful.

    Re: Payment Transfer Times

Do check with the bank about the fast payments as Halifax have not fully introduced it yet!
