My kid is 7 So i want to transfer the money she has from pocket money birthdays etc to her own bank,my parents bank manager told me she needs to have a bank where she can write out how much money she is putting in her bank,and to see what she has in there,he told me that there wasn't many banks that still did bank books.
He did give me a website that asks you how much money would be in there etc then it would tell you whats best,but i cant remember the site
When I was a little'un, Abbey were the ones to go to, and you could do it so that though it was her account, you had to authorise the transactions :)
Abbey hasn't got a good name around here the bank machines never work all sorts of things happen,But its not like she will be getting money out of the bank much
My kids all have Post Office savings accounts
Midland (now HSBC) used to do childrens banking, in fact we even had a school bank (open during lunchtimes) that was Midland-exclusive......that was....er....20 years ago though :help:

queues are massive.
Their savings account takes about 30 days to withdraw anything from.
If you want a 3yr+ investment, you're probably better off just buying FTSE right now.

She has some of her money in our bank and some in her piggy bank/tracy beaker pot and so on time to get it into a bank so she can learn about money
Get a Halifax Save4it account - Good interest rate and at least did (last year) come with the book and a free gift (the account is aimed at kids)
The Nationwide Smart account is quite a good one. :)

Halifax are Bank of Scotland and i really dont think thats a sound investment atm, the fact that the useless gits are getting a great deal of taxpayers money to bail them out really sticks in my throat
Post office account is good or the Nationwide do a good one.
There is no Nationwide in my town so thats of the list,But everyone has given me some good banks so cheers
Think everyone's got some jip with whoever they bank, or have banked with - in my eyes, Royal Bank of Scotland don't deserve to get bailed out from what I've been, and a lot of people I know as well have been, through with them. However, having been a Halifax AND Bank of Scotland customer since I was a kid (mummy opening these accounts for me), I've not got a single complaint about any aspect of their service.Quote:

Yep. it is 50. I wouldn't put money in the banks, they've shown themselves to be reckless gamblers and everybody's children is already bailing them out to the tune of £37bn. A mutual building society is the best bet. The Post Office products are provided by the Bank of Ireland I think, ok at the mo but I don't reckon this banking thing is over yet. A big sticking plaster is covering a very big injury for now...
The Post Offices banking products are through the Bank of Ireland, but not the NS&I that you administer through the Post Office, that is the UK Government.Quote:

Seriously, the problem at the moment is people don't know who to trust, and its often those who claim to be mutual or co-operative who are the worst.
Im with Lloyds TSB so thats where her money is at the moment.
