under the sink water filters
Ive got a bad problem with my water the taste is so bad you cant drink it,southwest have done tests but its ok their end, the southwest water Scientist said its traces of perfume in the water. but we cant find where its comming from, Ive changed washers on taps, stopcock, water metre, also had a new water metre put in.
I cant go on buying bottles of water so i was thinking of buying a under the sink water filter has anyone got one or heared about them?
this is what i was looking at http://www.uk-water-filters.co.uk/
Re: under the sink water filters
Spend the money on finding the source of the contamination mate.
Water filters are not designed to remove the kind of pollution (what you describe is a significant pollution of your supply) that you describe. Perfume is a cocktail of volatile compounds and you can't trust a domestic filter to remove them reliably.
You need to find out where this is coming from, get the water company to take samples from various points in the supply pipe to try and nail down the source. If they find contamination before your stop valve it is their problem. Until you find the source stick to bottled water.
Re: under the sink water filters
Thats the problem,Ive had a new water pipe from the meter to my tapes it did improve it alot,Ive also had new stopcock and pipes,Anything leading up to the water meter is southwest water,But from the water meter to the house its the owners problem,The water man has told me what it is like perfume but where its comming from is well know one knows,If the water is cold then its ok but when it warms up its foul,The landlord wont do any more because the waterboard has said its safe to drink
Re: under the sink water filters
Don't have a straight forward life do you?
Re: under the sink water filters
No i dont its a tough life....But i would rather live here than my old flat not nice
Re: under the sink water filters
Tried boiling the water? There is a chance the contaminant will evaporate when you do.
Re: under the sink water filters
If the contamination is coming from them then they HAVE to sort it.
But from what you describe it sounds like the source is somewhere on customer owned section.
Out of interest your washing machine / dishwasher aren't bleeding detergent back up their supplys are they? Is it worth installing check valves on them?
And thats all I can think of mate, I'm out of ideas.
Re: under the sink water filters
God boiling water nooooo lol Its worse when its boiled,Drinking tea is a nono in our house,The water Scientist told us why its worse when heated up something to do with the molecules separating.
Re: under the sink water filters
Yep washing machine would of been the first thing to look at but when we moved in we had no machine,But we have no and the waterboard gave us a filter to put on the connection
Re: under the sink water filters
It might be worth having a unit installed as you don't know the source of the contamination. The water could have bacteria in it. It could be perfumed but also infected. Did you ever find the source of the problem? I am interested in this too as I have had some difficulty with plumbing.
