eBay and Phones

Been looking at eBay for mobiles phones, mst of the ads I have seen are actual links to a website where you can buy it for £20 or something like that. Its stupid and I think eBay should stop things like this happening.

Most of the ads have tiny disclaimers at the end or integrated into the description to try and trick unsuspecting buyers.

Yeah these are pyramid schemes known as a matrix. You sign up- they get round the legal issues by saying your buying an ebook, cd or signal booster something like that. You are then signed up to the scheme in which you must get so many referals before your chosen phone is sent out. These ads are just people getting referals. And the people they sign up then go and do the same on ebay

The other great ebay scam is the selling of Information....

" 52" plasma screen... blah blah blah... starting price £1. When you win this auction I'll send you a link were you can buy for £1000 off retail price."

Its this kind of thing that makes me steer clear of ebay. There are far too many scaming barstewards who ebay need to "send the boys round" to. Too many for ebay to deal with though

Yeah, ebay should just ban that outright, but I guess as long as they get the auction fees they don't give a toss. There are people who deliberately go and muck up auctions like this by winning, then refusing to pay and leaving negative feedback.

More often than not they'll be selling a link to Robert White anyway, as far as I can tell by looking at the prices. (http://www.robertwhiteltd.co.uk/index.php)

ive never bought a link before, but ive bid on one by accident thinking it was a phone, luckily (or unlickily for whoever did it) i was outbid and someone paid more for it

really scammy people, i saw someone who wrote the description of the phone and at the end in the smallest font ever - warning this is an URL and he got 280 quid for it :|

I never trusted eBay, I would sell stuff, but not buy.

Had some good stuff through ebay - Its just a case of doing your homework before jumping in feet first.

I've only had a few buys/sells on eBay (rating of 4) and each one has gone pretty smoothly. I sell more than I buy though. Don't like buying second hand stuff if I can help it.

I got a phone of yesterday, just when you search make sure you are not buying off someone who has sold hundereds of bamboo sticks etc also set minimum search price for 30 quid. That get rid of most fakers

Im sure that some of you remember the 'Free IBM PC' thing that was going on a while back. Well, I saw a couple of ppl that were selling the link to the details of that - thats rediculous as far as im concerned.

Perhaps I could sell them a link to a wealth of info regarding the best bargains which could save you in the region of thousands (ie forum 22 )!

One of the things that really bugs me is when you put a bid in for a tech auction, then you get bloody hundreds of spam messages saying "I saw your bid for item x, I can sell you one personally, just wire £500 here..."

I put one bid on a laptop, and got over 200 messages like the above
