Anyone else had a problem using their debit/credit card with Amazon recently?

I ordered a lot of christmas presents yesterday, from 7 different companies. I'm having trouble with Amazon accepting my debit card though. Every where else was fine, I even had 2 of the items turn up today and one of those was from the Amazon Marketplace

I've spoken to my bank up and they have said there is nothing wrong with the card, I have also spoken to Amazon who say they don't know why it's being declined, the bank won't tell them

Is anyone else having/had similar problems or maybe had this before somewhere else?

Any suggestions? I would not be all that bothered really, it's only for 4 items and 3 of those I can get else where ok, it's just 1 is half the price of anywhere else I have seen it and it would save me £20. I don't have another card I can use and I can't ask the mrs to use her's as it's a present.

    Thanks for any help.

Is there some kind of Verified by Visa shenanigans going on perhaps?

Check the expiry date you've entered - I entered mine correctly on a Scan order and then used the scroll wheel - changing the year.

Was enough to stuff up my order, lol.

I don't think Amazon use this do they? I never had that box come up and ask for my password. They have tried charging the card 3 times now and I have cancelled the order and reordered it with no luck either

Everything with the card is fine. I actually ordered 5 items, 1 from from a Amazon Marketplace seller and his payment went through no problems, I even got the item in the post today. So I know there is nothing wrong with the card or the details on the Amazon site.

Can't you try placing it over the phone ? Do they even allow that ?

Alternative, bother a friend to order it to your place/work and pay them...

It always does it with my visa debit card at amazon, especially on larger orders, usually goes through the second time.

I use Amazon quite a lot and this is the first time I have had this problem. It's not really that big an order, just over £100. They have tried charging the card 3 times now with no luck

I'll give them a ring again tomorrow and see if there is any other way I can pay. I'll send a cheque if needed.

Call the bank again and ask them to escalate your enquiry.

I had HSBC say they were 100% convinced that no transactions had been declined on my company credit card despite me knowing for a fact that 3 had. Only after getting the call escalated did they discover that it had indeed been declined.

Re: Anyone else had a problem using their debit/credit card with Amazon recently?

My credit card company are very suspicious of Amazon purchases and quite often ring me up to check - apparently it's a major source of fraud. But at least they always tell me that they're doing it.

One of my orders hasn't arrived, they hide the 'my order hasn't arrived' link very well. Took a while to dig it out, and in the end it was just an email going to their customer services!
