    Last FM Surprises [Rant]

Here I am at work, listening to Maximum the Hormone and similar artists on LastFM (thanks TAKTAK for introducing me to LastFM).

So it rolls to a band called Nightmare...and it's gangsta rap??! So...why stick a song up and relabel it as a J-Rock band? Encountered the same thing with SuG.

Really ruins the "mood" of listening when idiots do such things.

I haven't encountered this scenario when listening to Finnish Metal...are there haters on lastFM who do this just for kicks??!

Variety is the spice of life as they say

it's not worth getting stressed and wound up about as it could have been a simple mistake on the tagging as we all know how easy it is to knock mice wheels when using drop down boxes or something along those lines.

Deep breath now.... and skip to the next in the genre you know is correct

There - doesn't that feel better now?

There are scads of mis-tagged artists on Last FM, just have to keep hitting the skip button

<---Perfectionist when it isn't my own generated pap. lol. So these mistakes just annoy me but for the past few days of listening there hasn't been mis tags but when I go check out some Visual Kei/J-Rock I get Nightmare but uploaded gangsta rap to it. But just needed to rant about it.

Oh skip button has proved most useful and amusing! No idea how but one time I was listening I went from Melodic Death Metal skipping some not so good songs and somehow ended up with dance type music. The tags weren't even the same.

But Last FM has shown me some bands I have never heard before and really like.

Yeah it is a bit annoying when that happens, but it's not a massive problem is it?

It is frustrating though when I put black metal in the tags, and it served me up with extreme rightwing NSBM crap like Nokturnal Mortum, but a click on the "ban" button removes that from your list. Eventually.

Still, Last.FM is brilliant, brilliant, brilliant as a whole, and as with a lot of other people, has introduced me to loads of new bands,

    try

    www.jango.com

you stick in a few artists, it also plays stuff similar that people reccomend, you can allow/deny it and how often it will play, you can make some very eclectic 'stations', I have over 15 for listening to depending on preference

    LoL...WTF?!

Barry White is Black Metal? Awesome

So far LastFM has behaved itself when I changed the station to "Flow & similar artists" though I am getting more Jpop than Jrock. lol. Ahh I can live with it

I was thinking if I won the lottery to print the list of users who uploaded it, fly over there and "jay and silent bob" them

Whack the breakbeat section of last.fm on and skank around the office.

That's my plan tonight while testing the NIA device

if only pandora still worked for non-us residents.. although you can prolly still use tor to get around the region lock.. pandora is so much better than last.fm for automagical playlists

    Re: Last FM Surprises [Rant]

Pandora was the best way of finding music, but alas it's no longer available to UK residents, or those outside the US - I got my fair share out of it, though.

On last.fm, however, I haven't actually come across much that I haven't liked. It's sub-par compared to Pandora, but so far I actually haven't encountered anything that I don't like based on its recommendations - but the quality still is sub-par compared to Pandora. When Pandora suggested something it was either "hell, yeah!" or "nah, what's next". last.fm has been somewhat "agreeeable" to this date.

What another lovely surprise...Firefox is using 160MB of memory after a couple of hours on LastFM.

    Bizarre.

FF 3.0.4. Just restarted and 2 minutes into a song and its upto 71MB! wtf is going on?
