My watch has just died in about as spectacular fashion as a digital thing can do these days, and therefore it's left me in a bit of a quandry because I would otherwise favour casio in the budget but accurate division. So now I'm looking for a new watch - question is, what are good cheap-ish brands? In my price range (<~£50) are brands like pulsar, sekonda, ingersoll, timex, accurist etc. but I don't know much about them.

Preferred style is digital/analogue combi, but I've got really thin wrists so anything with too large a face looks ridiculous.

I don't think there's much to choose between them in that price range. I've had a &#163;40 Kahuna which survived everything I've thrown at it for about four years now, it's only had to have one battery change and the only reason I replaced it was because I was getting bored of it. Now I've got a &#163;60 Pulsar which is also doing fine.

Cheers - what shops should I be browsing? I can only think of Argos and Amazon at the moment..

Also try any highstreet jeweller, H. Samuel etc. or department stores like Debenhams.

Even on a modest budget it's always a good idea to try watches on first, plus they should adjust the strap for free if needed.

Amazon is good tbh. Look about on it. It gives a good idea of prices. Thats where i got my Casio Wavecepter. Its an excellent watch.

Lol what happened with it? I've had mine for a year with no problems. It even has a soler panel on it so i never need to worry about the battery running out.

It was about 5 years old, just lying on its side on the table it suddenly emitted a loudish 'plink' (or high pitched 'pop'), the LCD vanished and the light came on permenantly, meanwhile the speaker started playing electronic static of death sounds. No amount of button presses/soft resets would do anything, had to take the back off and remove the battery just to stop the noise/light.

i usually pick up adidas watches when they are on sale my current one is 2 years and running fine and my spare is sitting in the drawer 5 year old+ and still runs (changed battery once).

i do a lot of decorating work so the spare gets worn doing that and it's been hit on scaffolds dropped and such and still holds time perfectly.

I know adidas is a bit Chavvy but i buy the stainless steel ones that usually only havea tiny little adidas sign on them.
