    Woolworths is coming back ??

Woolworths are coming back!!! [but not to the high street]

Check out the website now: http://www.woolworths.co.uk/

News Story (CNet - sorry): http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gadgets/0,39...9300857,00.htm

I can see this failing yet again, online retail is just too competitive, Littlewoods is an awful company with a bad website. I cannot see how they will prove to be so competitive. And I would be quite interested to find out how much they paid for the brands, as surely it's been through it all, and lost all it's credibility?

Yeah I heard this on the radio this morning.

However, if they are a pure online retailer then I reckon they might stand a chance if they are competitive enough, the news story this morning mentioned something about the daily telegraph buying the Woolworths name. As long as they are good on their prices and the delivery is good I think it will do alright, plus a lot of people might actually use them out of principle to see them back on their feet.

I guess only time will tell, as the radio said this morning, do you reckon they will do pick n mix from their online store xD

If they change everything they sell, give good prices and have decent customer services.. they might survive but their image is obviously counting against them in this climate.

Oh and they need to sell sweets

That sums it up for me really. I think I've bought precisely two items in Woolworths over the last decade...

The distribution arm or woolies was very profitable. I'm sure they sold and distributed to all sorts of online companies. So they may actually have a decent backbone on which to sell and of course the woolies names is well known and people have a fondness for it. As long as you can get pic 'n' mix I'll be happy!
