It was a strange end for the mammoth prayer study, which cost $2.4 million and enrolled 1,802 patients who had bypass surgery. Most of the funding came from the British-based John Templeton Foundation, which supports research at the intersection of science and religion.
Honestly these people are so stupid. I love the way that they enter into bias thinking that it's obvious that prayer will help. I wonder if, now that they find that it definitely doesn't i.e. that god isn't helping them, that they may actually question a) why he doesn't help b) if he's there at all.
It cost $2.4 million dollars for a result that was obvious. I hope these people feel guilty at their waste of money that could otherwise have been put to real good use.
"intersection of science and religion" - pffft, no such thing, science takes it's method and goes where it's discoveries lead it further, religion just hangs onto it's coat-tails.
I would expect that you might get mixed/confused results, eg:
deterioration - most likely due to peoples' heightened anxiety (increased worry due to thinking it must be bad if people have to pray for me) or
improvement - due to the placebo effect (that's nice I'm safe now cos someone is praying and god will look out for me)
none of the above.
Either way it would show that either it's all baloney, god doesn't care or god only cares for the prayers or the well being of certain individuals.

Wasn't all this years ago? Has anyone read the study? It's all a bit weird - being confidential the people doing the praying were not even given the names of the people being prayed for...
What's really weird is that someone somewhere with millions of dollars thought this would be a good spend of money... If you're an atheist then you would never expect there to be a difference, statistically. If you're a christian, well, putting your God to the test and all has never been done in quite this way before!
terrible, i think it may be because i know i need to be up in 5 hours or so, or it might be the praying.. we will see if i last the night
