    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

Only one I have tried so far is the Cajun Squirrel, must say they taste like those horrid BBQ pringles.

Not tried the others as yet but apparently my brother has a bucket load he got given from work so will see what other flavours are like before I vote.

    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

I've tried Cajun Squirrel and Fish&Chips.

Cajun Squirrel just tasted like a mix of whatever was on the spice rack. It was ok and I don't think it tasted like the generic flavour of meat crisps. i.e. Smokey Bacon, Roast Chicken, Beef, etc. all taste exactly the same to me. I wasn't bothered either way about the Cajun Squirrel.

Fish&Chips, I was surprised they actually tasted like battered fish with plenty of salt and vinegar. I don't think it will be a new classic like Salt and Vinegar or Prawn Cocktail, but I quite liked it.

matty-hodgson - There are two different six-packs. Each one has a pair of three flavours.

I noticed individual packs on those hanger things between shelf sections in Sainsbury's last week. So they should be available individually in more places by now.

    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

I've tried the chocolate chilli ones, since they combine my three real food downfalls, and I liked them - they actually tasted like crisps flavoured with chocolate and chilli, rather than crisps flavoured with lots of chemicals. Also - no nasty whey powder or milk proteins - Huzzah!

I don't know how many of the others I'll be able to try thanks to Walker's insistance on dairifying everything, but if I find any of the others I'm willing to eat I'll let you all know

    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

I tried the fish and chips flavour today.

It tasted quite strongly of vinegar, but there was a definte hint of fish. It was ok, nothing special and I don't think I'd buy it again.

I aim to try them all at least once. The squirrel one sounds interesting

    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

I tried the builders breakfast ones today..

    Meh..

You could get a hint of beans, but mostly they just tasted a bit like smokey bacon with a bit of Hydrogen Sulphide (eggs)..

I think the best sounds like the fish and chips flavour (not keen on Bhaji..)

    Re: Walkers' new crisp flavours

Here's what Walkers have to say on the flavourings:
After the entries were narrowed down and the finalists selected, food technologists set about creating the flavours in the laboratory, using a mixture of natural ingredients and unspecified "flavouring", which Walkers' head of flavour development, James Stilman, said were "natural flavour compounds" and not e-numbers.

Full English breakfast is made up of salt, pepper, sage, barley malt extract, butter, citric acid, dried garlic and flavouring, while the ingredients for Cajun squirrel include milk, lactose, salt, sugar, dried onion, dried garlic, dried lemon juice, cardamon, ginger, coriander, chilli, cumin, oregano, thyme, allspice, parsley, paprika extract and flavouring.

    Smoky Bacon:
Potatoes, sunflower oil (33%), smoky bacon flavour (lactose(from milk), flavour enhancers (monosodium glutamate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate), hydrolysed soya protein, flavourings, colour (paprika extract), wheat maltodextrin), salt.
