companies that never call you back

I have given these firms enough time to call me back and they never did...

    Virgin Media
Senitor Associates (These are the worst by far!)
    Telewest Business
    Sky
    OcUK

Add your own I will keep updateing this list as I find more people who say "Yes, I will call you right back!" or "I will get her to call you" etc.

Just to counterbalance the one about Sky - We ha viewing problems which we nailed down to a faulty Sky+ box a few months back. It got replaced, and all was good but I was due a refund for loss of viewing and I noticed last week that it hadn't happened.

I called them last Wednesday and played the joyous "I'll put you through to x department who deals with this". After the third person tried that it turns out that they in fact just dropped me back in the queue at the beginning, where I began.

*disclosure - I have in my time been known to spend time working on a tech support helpdesk. I know how thankless these jobs are, so I make a point of not taking stuff out on whoever is on the phone*

The very helpful young lady there admitted that she worked tech support, not billing but she'd try to help anyway. I fully expected that after explaining everything she'd put me through to billing but she didn't: she took all my details and promised to call me back that afternoon. "Sure" thought I "of course you will".

An hour later I got a call back from her to advise that she was crediting my account for loss of viewing. She was VERY pleasant, (and sounded more than a little hot, tbh) and for her troubles I've sent a letter of commendation to Sky Customer Services. I don't know what they pay their staff, but in this particular case it's not enough.

I know it's a little off-topic but we're all the first to complain when things don't go our way - does anyone else make a point of being grateful when someone actually does well?

    Yes I do.

I had an issue with some Hotel software. I worked close with a guy from the company and between us we rewrote the front end so it didn't conflict with other software. He put a lot of effort into it with me so I called his manager and said he was a fantastic help etc. He sent me an email a few days later saying that he had been put up for a promotion and thanked me!

I had issues with DSGi and these issues where sorted by my account manager so I sent a letter of thanks to her and her boss (DSGi are looking to get rid of staff so I would think that letter was pretty good for her)

oh and http://www.crackle-media.co.uk/ have been good as well

There's one google result mentioning Senitor Associates as being just CV farmers. From the adverts they place everywhere for very similar roles in lots of small towns, it appears they might be. I've been avoiding them.

Re: companies that never call you back

I used to work customer services over the phone. If ever somebody wanted calling back, we'd do it.

First thing I'd do when we got a call through, was write down the phone number if caller-ID was working. That way if they got disconnected somehow I could call them back - some people were surprised when I called them back having been cut off before taking their details.

A few weeks ago I was renegotating my contract with Virgin Media. To get the best deals they regrade your connection and see what upgrade deals are available. Unfortunately this results in brief disconnection. Twice, the people on the end of the line didn't grasp that I was using VoIP and wasn't really up for them disconnecting my net connection for a split second!

Still, they were able to call me back having made the cockup, so I was happy enough
    PHP Code:

    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
