Used to fault things down to component level , now all I use is a laptop for diagnostics and replace boards etc , don't need many skills anymore.

I think one big major thing you can talk about is working from home. With the advent of reliable high speed net connections employees need not bother going to the 'office' instead they can be given a laptop and VPN over the net and carry out there work as normal from home.

You can also discuss the benefit to the business from doing this, no need for company cars / car allowance, can rent less office space etc etc. Working from home is especially handy for contracters who can be given temporary vpn access for a project. I know IBM are keen for staff to work from home after speaking to a number of contracters. EDS certainly don't mind the idea either! A lot of the suppliers managing the backbone of GM are virtual teams, spread globally yet still working together.

It's also handy when a company want to help justify chucking someone!

The internet is an amazingly useful resource for finding out information, when programming any issue you encounter has often been found before, the solutions are almost always out there!
