I have always thought that my typing speed and accuracy were pretty high. However, a couple of weeks ago I came into work one day, as normal, feeling OK and noticed that not only had my typing speed declined but my accuracy dropped terribly. It was a sudden decline, not something that took place over a long period, hence it was very noticeable.
I thought it was maybe because I was tired, or hadn't eaten properly or something, so I left it. A couple of days later I notice I am still having big problems. I normally touch type, I can't do this very well anymore as I make too many mistakes, but the bizarre thing is, they aren't normally spelling mistakes, I will type the wrong word but spell it correctly. Obviously I'm not perfect and do sometimes make spelling mistakes, but normally am quick enough to know I make a mistake as I hit the keys, so immediately delete the offending character and carry on. Now I don't notice these mistakes until I read back what I've written.
As I work on an IT helpdesk, typing is paramount to my occupation, I have to be fast and accurate whilst on the phone so this is really starting to affect me. I'm actually starting to get a bit worried that something could be wrong (either my sight, hand-eye coordination or my brain) which is causing this to happen.
Should I be worried? Can anyone think of any logical reasons for this? Am I getting old (I'm only 29 dammit!)? I don't exactly know how to approach this medically, I think my doctor would look at me strangely if I went to see her and said "my typing skills are going downhill".
TLDR Version: i cnat tipe probably, is me brain fudged up?!?!
P.S. Please try not to derail this thread, I welcome all serious input.![]()
