Akira, one of the most iconic anime movies, is coming to Bluray. From the advert I saw it looks enhanced/cleaned up too.

Perhaps I need to watch it again, but I agree, visually stunning, but confusing as hell. I didn't find it an enjoyable film in that respect.

Before I even discovered manga, the anime had me enthralled. The enjoyment of Akira to me is that it is one of the shows I grew up with.

So I for one, would like to get it even though I have no Bluray player yet.

If memory serves it was redubbed for a DVD special edition a while back with a better translation of the Japanese original - now the story makes a lot more sense (for those who haven't seen the redubbed version).

Its a good movie, but its a cartoon, whats the point of having a blu ray version when you can buy the dvd for a quid xD

IME blu-ray makes the biggest difference for cel-shaded animation. the crisp lines make a huge difference
