    Are you a hoarder ?

After being given a bit of ear ache from the powers that be, I've spent much of today having a grand old sort out, hence the for sale thread. I was amazed at how much rubbish I insist on keeping.

I've shredded several years worth of paper work, bank statements, old credit card bills. Thrown out tonnes of receipts. I had three bin bags full of junk, and the worst of it is, I'm not even finished yet. Have another draw or two to sort out, then there is the horror that is my wardrobe.

At least now I can see my laminate floor !!

Re: Are you a hoarder ?

I know there is more hardware to find yet. I've got a shed load of it all out in the garage, last time I went out there I think I had something like 9 AGP graphics cards, I've got at least 10 gig in ram, several small hard drives. CPU's coming out my ears, one which is ear marked for Rai if it's dead when I test it tomorrow.

I've got a pile of optical drives, hmmm think I'm going to make an optical drive tower tomorrow.

I should point out, I'm on holiday from work, trying to find things to do so I don't get bored.

    Just wait until May/June.

I'll be offloading the incomprehensible amount of crap I've amassed in two years at my current place of residence... no way I can hang on to it any longer!

It was quite a shock to find more P2 and P3 CPU's after I thought I'd thrown the last of them away last month, so imagine my surprise when three more popped out the wood work, I'm sure they are like rabbits. You put three in a draw and they mate over night and you end up with six.

I need to clear out as well.

got a box of stuff I was going to donate to the computer museum at Bletchley Park too. Things I don't want to throw out because they are still awesome, they just don't have any monetary value (some SCSI gear, PPro motherboard, AWE64 Gold, various Matrox graphics cards, etc)

Yes drowning in paperwork & 'stuff'. Despite shredding blitzes & recycling papers/junk mail &c, do tend to hang onto bank statements, receipts, magazines, old work files, cardboard boxes* & so on...

I blame a rogue hoarding gene. My grandparents kept decades worth of letters & cards my parents sent them, then when g.parents died, parents bought the lot back again & added them to their own hoard....

*not quite as bad as Mr Trebus though, Behemoth (yet).

Yes, serious hoarder here. I've just brought four boxes of computer games and consoles down from my mum's attic to clutter up my own already ramjammed house. Some cool stuff in there though, think I'll start a thread.

By the sounds of it, your getting there lol

Part of the reason for the clear out is because I want to buy a mixer that connects to my PC, I'm going to become a bedroom DJ, I've been playing at it for years with software so it's time to have a go with some proper kit for a change

Re: Are you a hoarder ?

Oh god yeah. I've got bank statements from over 10 years ago, I think every cinema stub for the past 15 years, every shoe box I've ever had (keeps all the flyers, foreign fodder, train tickets, boarding passes, photos, etc.), dead consoles, a minitape dictophone, my favourite (albeit very much dead and wrecked) trainers, defunct European currencies, long expired bank cards, ...and it's all just part of the landscape.

I literally throw hardly anything out...I even keep a stack of mail I don't even open because I reckon it's junk mail (so nearly missed an interview because of this!). I only just got rid of my P166+ (in AT form factor) that actually housed my P60 initially.

But I'm definately getting rid of alot of this when I move again - screw lugging it about.

My paperwork gets cleaned out every year. As for general junk and pc bits, if i cant make it into a system or sell it somewhere it goes either to a bootsale or to the tip, my living space is very minimalistic and i like it that way.
