    Need a Romantic Holiday Destination

As the title say i'm looking for a romanatic holiday destination to take my gf on and am wondering what you guys would think is the best. I would ask at work but i'm off at the moment due to my leg and when ever i talk to mates about where they've taken their partners my gf seems to walk in

It can be anywhere as long as you can fly there using Thomas Cook as i get free flights. The cost of the area i'm not to bothered about as i'm planning to propose to her so i want it to be special.

So far i've thought of Florida but avoding all the theme Parks (can still go there though ) and some of the carribbean islands but have been put off them after that shooting last year and the drugs (although i suppose anywhere is like that)

Ideally it would be nice and warm to get away from crummy old blightly but somewhere like Norway would be fine. (Maybe the cold would be better for the night )

How about the opera in the ampitheatre in Verona?
(Random idea, I know; I was there over Summer, plus it has the association with a certain pair of star cross'd lovers!)

Cyprus? I know it's in the Med but it's a great destination. Beaches, mountains, the old city (Nicosia), vibrant nightlife, the less-developed North... gets my vote. Larnaca would be my choice (over Paphos).

Italy perhaps, Venice? It really depends what your gfs interests are, if you tailor it to something she likes then it will be more special. What are her interests?

I was talking about going to italy with a friend the other day. They've got these very effecient high speed trains, so you could take in quite a lot of the country, without wasting time traveling.

Bulgaria and Croatia have beautiful coastlines. But if it must be nice and warm soon, I suppose Casablanca, Algiers, and other Northern African cities can provide an exotic setting.

If you can though, you really should hit the Carribean. Don't worry, it's not a warzone and most people are very friendly. Or you could go to South America, visit some Brazilian beaches..

    Seconded on that
Really nice place Cyprus, I've been to Larnaca quite and enjoyed it every time. Ayia Napa's the place to go for the night life.

Re: Need a Romantic Holiday Destination

I took my gf to Edinburgh for her 21st/valentines day/our anniversary last year and i couldnt have picked a better destination. Hotel was a little dear but it was really really impressive & the rooms were fantastic. It was just off the Royal mile aswell so was enabled us to the the Castle & all the fancy stuff right in the city centre. Cant recommend it enough!

edit; proposing on/in the castle overlooking Edinburgh city centre? The views are to _die_ for & if you manage to get a semi-decent day you cant find a better place!

New Orleans? It's warm, and the center is nice. Short hop from MCO.
Key West? Now is the only time of year it's even remotely habitable. Drive there along A1A and stop in Miami along the way.
